I honestly don't think Bass has a place on this team. He hasn't played well. We are using him wrong in the 5 spot. Randle doesn't look like he needs any mentoring really. He lifts right out.

But try and get rid of Kelly before Bass.

What's made Bass a trade piece is Nance's development. I'd much rather develop trade Bass and develop Nance, who's been better this season, and get something back for Bass.

Bass is actually solid to good and on a decent contract though, while Kelly is not. Bass seems tradeable, Kelly seems cut-able, and really he should have been cut in preseason but he fooled the FO with some good games. I don't really want to trade Nicholas either, I still think he is valuable, I'd trade Lou before him.

I really really like what Nick does for us. If I can, I'm not trading him. I'd prefer Nick to whatever else he could realistically bring.

Bass on the other hand we should talk to and see if he'd like a change. Move him for some long-shot prospect and a 2nd rounder or something. Give him a chance to play for a good team because what we've got going is just not a good fit for him. Actually Byron is just a bad fit for him actually. Also like @RandleROFY said: Nance Jr. does a lot of the same things Bass does but with more athleticism, length, at half the price, and younger.

I'd trade Lou before Nick and I wouldn't think twice about it.

Ugh trading season, where Lakers are reportedly interested in everyone.

Actually I've heard their interest in Shabazz is pretty legit. Even the beat writers picked that one up.

ZaZa Pachulia (butchered his name) is a Free Agent next season. Good guy to do after, Ryan Anderson as well

But don't the T-Wolves really like him? What do we have they could want? He's not as good as any of our young 3 so they are off the table. We can't trade 1st rounders. I mean, do they like Lou Williams or Ryan Kelly?

EDIT: Maybe Tarik Black? I like Black but if he's just warming the pine, why not?

I have no idea but I think it was something like Nick Young/Ryan Kelly or something along those lines. I don't know though. Shabazz is cool but I'm not really sure if getting him makes us significantly better.

What would Shabazz bring us that Nick doesn't? Nick scores and he's even playing defense now. Is it cuz Nick is 30?

I don't know much about Shabazz, but this seems like a pretty lateral move.

I couldn't tell you to be honest, it's just me kind of connecting the dots on that. Nick is rumored to be shopped and we're interested in Shabazz. I have no idea why or if that's what as on the table, just my guess.

Shabazz seems like a nice young player. I'm not sure what the fit would be or why we'd be interested in him.

The news of Miles Plumlee being available started the idea of Miles Plumlee for Brandon Bass. I'm not against that, but I'm not jumping for joy either.

Because any coach with a brain will use Tarik as the backup center here. Byron will be gone after the season. I don't see any need to give up a solid, young backup like him.

At least we'd be upgrading to a legit backup C though with that move.

pachulia has been awesome this year for dallas. ugly but very effective.

what happened to miles plumlee? two years ago, he's a part of phx's surprisingly decent rotation, then he just sort of disappears. i know he's behind some talent in milwaukee, but man, that was a quick ascension and drop.

i'm not crazy about shabazz. the lakers need a 3 and d sf badly; i don't think he fits that mold. he has gotten better as a slasher, though.

Phoenix went in a different direction with Alex Len who looks pretty decent. Then he was traded to Milwaukee where he was behind their established guys like John Henson and Pachulia. Then MIL brings in Greg Monroe and now Plumlee will never see the light of day again. I think he's decent. His floor might be Sacre and his ceiling might be Pachulia? I have no idea really...

I'd be down with Pachulia though this summer if that was something we could do. Very solid. He reminds me of what Asik kind of looked like not too long ago. Go out and defend the rim a bit, rebound a bit, and score when you're open. Not bad.

If you didn't get Whiteside, and you wanted to maintain your flexibility while upgrading your 5 position, you can re-sign Hibbert and sign Pachulia in Free agency. It's not mind-blowing, but it's better than what we currently have, and you can have a true 5 on the floor at all times. That allows you to address the other holes on the roster.

I hope we don't even waste our time with guys like Durant. He's not coming here. No way no how. We have to stop doing what we've done the last offseasons with the star free agents instead of trying to add other pieces who can help.

With Kobe retiring SF is the obvious need. Batum is probably the second best available after Durant. Barnes is restricted and GSW will match anything. Think you try and go after Whiteside. I don't believe Miami will be in a position to offer him more money. If not just re-sign Hibbert. Definitely need to get a legit backup point. Vasquez is a guy I'd like to get. Great energy, solid defender, knows how to run a second unit.

    Russell/Vasquez
    Clarkson/Williams
    Batum/Young
    Randle/Nance Jr.
    Whiteside or Hibbert/Black

Biggest concern with that second unit is neither Nance Jr. or Black can stretch the floor. Spacing could be an issue.
