Is it optimistic to now say give a lot of minutes to anyone that can be a trade-able asset to be able to use either at the deadline or summer? lol.

I do not think we will need to tank to get a top 3 pick. We will get better by the end of the season, but I do not think it will be good enough.

I think the Lakers will win three out of the next four (PHX, CHA, MEM, NO), then it gets rough with SA, and GS again. I hope the next time we play PHX and GS we will show some improvement.

    Well, we're 0-4.

On the bright side, Mavs started 0-4 and won 67 games during the 06-07 season.

I'm in the minority, because I'm really pleasantly surprised by this team. They've been able to score and keep up with other teams I didn't expect them too without much to go off on. I think there's a good chance this team can develop into something as the season goes on. It's not impossible. The record may not be good but the effort is there. They're trying, they can only do so much with what they have.

Well we might be bad enough to keep our pick.

Randle will come back strong. He's 19 and only injured a bone, not a joint or ligament.

Hopeful of Clarkson's upside as well.

    Oh, and Kobe's back. Sooo...yay.

There, I'm fresh out of optimism.

A bit of optimism and some whining, moaning, and complaining in my Week 1 Wrap Up.

Buckle up, it's going to be a long, interesting season!

Optimism is that it won't last forever. This run of bad luck and losing. We will be back on top. Probably without Kobe, but we'll get there.

Honestly, we could be looking at a lot of cap space, a completely healed Randle and a top five pick next year. I think that's something to be optimistic about.

As far as this season, I am starting to think Swaggy P is going to be a much bigger lift to this team than I thought. Having another scoring option and outside threat is definitely going to help. We have been playing much better and he will help take the scoring pressure off of Kobe.

^I agree. That extra scorer is what we need now, to space the floor better, and to take some of the load off Kob.

That's what a few of us have been saying. I'm not going to hold out hope for the top 5 pick, but if we get it I think we're in good shape. Davis is shaping up to be a real catch too. If we could lock him up then we've got Randle, Davis, Young, Clarkson, and enough room to go nuts the next TWO summers.

Absolutely. As much as the front office has been criticized (including by me), at least they have managed to maintain cap flexibility over the next few years. I have confidence that Mitch will get the job done.

I think so too. Especially one as good as Swaggy. He's going to have some rust when he comes back though probably - shooting hand and all. But I think it'll come off quickly.

Next three games... I'm optimistic we'll win 2 out of the next three game: Phoenix, Charlotte, Memphis.
