Doesn't matter who takes over, as long as you get him away from the team. Get him away from the rookies he's damaging, away from the vets he's making disgruntled. Get him away from the franchise he's ruining, out of potential free agent's sight, get him OUT. Same issue we had with Brown, he lost the team, he was a poison, he HAD to go. Doesn't matter who takes over for him, the Kobe farewell tour is consuming this season and can't be stopped anyway, but at least replace him with someone for now that will stop hurting the team, will maybe start teaching the kids better.
Yep. Get some of that Bickerstaff treatment going. Make the game fun and easy with very little rules. The only rules: play the kids a lot of minutes and play guys at their natural positions. Easy enough.
It's not enough for me. It took to long to say these things and all he did was stare the obvious. He thought we'd be better? Noooo. B0ron is shuffling players around trying desperately to figure out how to get a win? You don't say! Maybe not playing Bass at C for half the season prevents this. Maybe not replacing him with Sacre and continuing to not play Black for no reason helps a little. B0ron is throwing s*** at the wall at this point and all we get from Mitch is BS to appease angry fans who know it's his fault we are this bad.
Agreed. I mean at the least this is a clear indication Byron's got a burning hot seat this summer (maybe sooner).
Popovich is the anti-Byron. And I agree with Weezy about Mitch saying Byron needs to keep shuffling and searching. That is not the answer and it is depressing to hear frankly.
I think he threw some shade at Byron but at the same time, his solution at the very end was disturbing because it will encourage Byron to keep shuffling lineups mindlessly with no real plan in place.
3 wins, Mitch....3 wins..you've played 20 games..my football team has played 12 and they have more wins
Remember summer league though? We were all WTF with what Madsen was running. And frankly that was the first sign of all the losing coming our way. It's easy to say Mark was running Byron's system but I don't know that Mark would implement something drastically better. He'd be an upgrade over the dumb ape, that's for sure though. If he needs to be the stop-gap, so be it. I don't want us winning too many games anyways now that we're in the Ben Simmons sweepstakes.
Yea Madsen as a replacement won't be good...at all. I saw what he did in Summer League and it was on Byron levels of bad, including his press conferences where he oddly referred to every player by full name.
You scrap whatever Byron has...you run pick in roll basketball and some of the successful sets you've had out of the Triangle that provided god spacing and good results. Keep it simple
Hey Byron, take note of Mitch manning up and taking partial blame for your steaming pile of crap coaching job. Take notes and do the same for the team you coach can place blame around every corner except where it belongs.
FWIW, I think when Kobe was given that contract extension and Byron took the job, both the FO and Byron were expecting a much healthier and productive Kobe on the court. Byron has always relied on a star to carry him, and I think he thought he was going to get the Kobe from 3 years ago as opposed to the Kobe we've seen the last 2-3 seasons. The Front Office knew that a healthier Kobe would carry a decent squad to respectability, but that just hasn't happened. Though, I still believe with an average coach, we'd have 4-5 more wins at the very least...
I don't understand how anyone could've reasonably expected Kobe to play a star level after that horrific injury. That's an injury that has ended so many great and all time great careers. Dominque, Isiah, Shaq, Chuck, and Billups even though he's certainly not an all time great but just goes to show you. We asked a 34 year old to carry us in 2012-2013 and he carried us to the playoffs and we saw what happened. I can't believe Byron is that delusional to think Kobe was gonna be the same. As much as I love Kobe I knew it was over then. You don't bounce back with that especially with in the incredible amount of wear and tear already on that body.
Yes...and we gave away five potential ones too. Not getting rolled and played with every time! This just made me laugh my *** off!
If you go back 2 seasons ago, after the injury, pay attention to Mitch and Byron's rhetoric: I remember Mitch saying things like 'we still feel like Kobe can give us '30 points a night if we need it or Byron saying, 'I'm just glad we have number 24 out there.' Then, he proceeds to run him into the ground. Going into this season there was a lot more uncertainty and rightfully so; however, nobody thought Kobe would be worse than last season. At least, I didn't think he would be...
Is Mitch charging up the Magic Wand to expel us of our version of Lord Vordermort??? This pleases me...
