    Either last night was our NBA finals.. or a real turning point of,people consider Clipps one of the best in the NBA, turned out to be anybodys games and we were down more talent than they were. "WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE MR. LARUSO" because if not we will get the top 5 pick and I hate to say it, that is the fastest way to building a contender but I will not turn down playoffs at all because if were heading towards that direction we could make a sneaky deadline trade to help us further. But if not I hope we reel in an expiring contract for a pick or two.

    Lets see where we are in a couple weeks, but we're much closer to that top 5 pick than we are to a playoff spot. It took pretty close to everything we had to hang in there against the Clippers. I don't see them winning anything this season.

    I'll be content if we lose every game, but we see individual growth from players we might want to have next season. Davis, Lin, Kelly, and Clarkson. If those four can continue to develop and look good, I'll be content. Not happy... just content.

    I agree. Thats why im already scheming for next year without being a Debbie downer. Theres still plenty to learn from this year, but you got to stay several moves ahead and be prepared for every scenario when you are a team looking to head to the top again.

    But that's with no Young, no Kelly. And for going forward it's without Randle, too.

    I hope those two mean better things for us. I certainly don't think they'll make them worse.

    But I'm not sure it'll keep us from being in the lottery. Once we're there I hope we get lucky.

    I honestly have no idea how good we are, and I'm not sure what Scott adds to the mix. We just need to see way more.

    I was thinking that if last game was a legit sampling of us, then having Randle (versatility in scoring, decent rebounder) and Kelly (stretching the floor) would put us far closer to the playoffs than the 5 pick. That's just how I'm seeing it right now.

    Oh I definitely I thought with Randle we had that kind of ability, but the loss of Randle really hurt us mentally and with our depth. I think obviously we got blown out by the Rockets with Randle, but I think his injury had a lot to do with the way we looked in Phoenix.

    But without Randle and his versatility and accounting for future injuries that I think we will likely have I just think we're a lottery team more than a playoff team. I would be ecstatic to eat crow though.

    Everything happens for a reason... I have a feeling were going to keep that top 5 pick and the Steve Nash deal wont hurt as much after that player turns out to be great or is traded for someone to make a legit push,not to mention attracts another piece to team up with alongside Kobe to make a legit run 2-3 years.

    No. I want Randle here. I've seen enough to know he'll be worth the 7th pick in the draft and be a solid player for us. No need to send out our young, semi-proven player for a younger, not proven player.

    for embiid probably not, for a top 3-5 pick...ask again after the season, that depends on how the top 5 prospects are looking. i'm inclined to agree with real and i like julius, but i'm not sure i'd call him semi-proven. or at least any more proven than a potential top pick will be by the time the draft comes around

    He was effective in the Summer League, effective in camp, and effective in the pre-season. He had already developed go-to moves that worked in the NBA.

    Some Top 5 picks don't get there. Wes Johnson was the 4th overall pick.

    Besides, the way we're headed we'll get that Top 5 pick without trading anybody. Why trade Randle when we'll get there with him still on the team?

    i would agree for the most part, but i wouldn't say randle is untradeable. if we can get 2 of the top 5 picks in this draft and the talent there seems legit then i would take a look at it.

    sure it's not a guarantee (ie wes like you said) but randle's not really a guarantee at this point either. he's got a long road to recovery

    Randle's injury isn't that bad honestly. Worthy had the same injury. So did Mychal Thompson. Heck a number of athletes have had that injury and made it back just fine. Worthy was a Finals MVP for us and a Hall of Famer.

    I'd take Randle over anybody in the draft right now except maybe Okafor and Mudiay. Anybody else and I'd rather just keep Julius. No need to keep trading young for younger.

    do you guys think that in the situation the Lakers are in, as in need to as any help they can find - a spot where Randle could have showed his skills, and as of right now no rookie as shown explosive stats, that maybe Randle could have won rookie of the year?

    The top rookies so far this season are averaging around 11 PPG, and Michael Carter-Williams won last season on a horrible team, so anything is possible IMO. It's nice to see Randle looking like he's in good shape at the very least though. This could have been an easy excuse for him to sit back and get fat, but to me he looks like he's been staying in shape doing whatever he can do.
