A mid-range J by Wesley Johnson is the worst B-ball shot of the modern civilization .

I'd play Ellington more minutes at the 2 with Kobe at SF

    Wesley is terrible.

Rebounding and perimeter defense was nonexistant in stretches. Switching to zone did help.

After rewatching the game, the refereeing was a lot worse than I initially thought. A lot of positives to be drawn from this game though, I just wish we could've gotten the W because I cannot stand the Clippers. From the obnoxious Steve Ballmer to Spencer Hawes' annoying face everytime he hits a shot.

This is why I'm totally in favor of restructuring the draft. I never really got it before since the Lakers were always contending or at least trying to make some noise. But here we are with a really crummy roster and no real hope of making the playoffs (or doing anything there should we eek our way in) and while I love the Lakers and love rooting for them and love watching them upset the other powerhouse teams, I just can't shake the feeling that tanking for that pic is probably our best option at this point. It sucks. I don't like feeling this way and it's not something a fan should have to consider, but what's the alternative? Hoping they win 37 games and lose the pick to Phoenix?

Isn't there a freedom in that though? It sucks to watch them lose, but at least there's no expectations. Nobody expects a damn thing from this team. Watching them come out and maybe win a game like that last night... There's some freedom there. It's going to suck watching them lose every night and damn man without Randle it'll be limited in the development we can appreciate...

But I'll look forward to Lin and Davis and Clarkson and maybe Kelly coming through and becoming pieces that maybe we can be serious about having around long term.

    Silver linings man!

Eh. Personally I love college hoops and its never too early for me to start looking at new prospects. Not used to viewing picks and thinking about guys that can help us, but I am not gonna run away from it either. Following college hoops and talking draft picks does not mean you are not still rooting for the team. I am not pushing for us to tank. I don't think we will need to tank. I was pleased with how we played last night but I still think we will struggle and end up with less than 30 wins. I would like nothing more than to be proven wrong and we end up in the playoffs, but I think even the most die hard guy out there knows that is unrealistic.

Real, there is a freedom with it, I agree. I guess when I say "the saddest part" is there is no out, I guess I mean there's no one to blame, to complain about, and that's both good and bad. Last season I thought with 'Antoni fired and an offseason with money to go after players like Stephenson, Thomas, Monroe and others, we had the beginnings of a way out. But that didn't happen, our big spend was on Jordan Hill and Young.

With Brown I was screaming for him to be fired constantly and felt his firing was a beginning of a way out. With 'Antoni I was angered, frustrated, and in disbelief that he was ever hired and that he wasn't fired for sucking so bad, he had to resign.

I guess when I say there's no out, and it is what it is, I'm at least at peace with it. There's no quick fix, I like Byron, and believe he should get time to turn our culture around, and that he will get that time. It's just a little hard as a spoiled Lakers fan to sit back and accept that we suck and we are going to for a while. It took this franchise foever to get here, but every team has to go through it, and I'm learning to accept it. Only thing I can't get past is re-signing Wes Johnson, we should have moved on, hell I'd have taken Beasley over him.

There is someone to blame and that's the front office. I honestly wish we went after Thomas, Stephenson, Monroe, etc. because they attract stars. A 36 year old Kobe, an 80 year old Nash and a bunch of scrubs do not. Heck I think at that point we didn't even have a coach! No direction.

^I agree. IMO Jimmy always wants to swing for the fences. But the odds are against fielding a team built that way.

The smarter thing would be to go after decent pieces that are more likely to sign here. We'd be in better shape with Lance or even Beasley than we are now.

The plan still looks flawed. It would be like trying to go back to school by gambling your savings in Vegas.

I respect yalls opinion but at the same time, those guys wanted longer term contracts and we werent willing to tie up some of our money and possibly missing out on someone else they covet higher. I dont know why you guys cant respect that, its not like Thomas/Stevenson was going to take us to a championship this year, lets be real.

You give them long term contracts (at the right price). They don't lead you to championships but they are not scrubs, they are solid players and can make for a winning team. A winning team attracts the stars and that star will lead the team to championships.

We can have all the cap space in the world but stars want to go to a different team to win, not be stuck in a rebuilding phase with scrubs.

My WMC.. We should have traded Randle for a legit star/2nd option while we had the chance.. I won't be surprised if Kobe asks for that trade to the Knicks that writers keep speculating about if they don't find a way to get him a 2nd option this season.

I doubt Kobe goes to NY. First, they don't want to lose 24 million in assets to get him. Second, Kobe doesn't want IMO to sell out and be acting chaser like LeBron.

But this year all he can do is stay healthy and pad stats. No point outside of that.

I thought we played well. Four games in five nights and they got gassed late. Played very well for three quarters. Oh well.
