Presidential Election Aftermath: What Now / What Next?

She understands how the economy works. But outside of that, she doesn't appeal to me.

Bernie in support of marijuana legalization. Thoughts?

Honestly, I still don't understand those who oppose recreational marijuana use over things like alcohol and cigarettes. Is Colorado not already a leading example of the positives that come from it? Has anyone heard stories in Colorado that would act as a counter argument to it?

Is it because it's a "gateway" drug? Because countries like Canada and the Netherlands have rampant drug abuse of stronger substances due to the availability of it? Overuse can lead to a decline in motor skills and mental function? As with overuse of any "drug" or alcohol or cigarettes don't have their implications?

Honestly, being in California, and pretty much seeing the use everywhere due to the "loophole" that is the " green card", it's "pretty much" legal here and yet, you never hear new stories or anything like that about the implications. The only issue I'm seeing is how much California is missing out on the tax revenues they could be earning to reduce a significant amount of their debt.

My take, big tobacco and alcohol are backing those who oppose it to keep it from being legalized because they know a lot of business could be lost to marijuana legalization.

 

All drugs should be legalized. The war on drugs needs to end. Crime rates will plummet since addicts no longer have to pay an arm and a leg for their fix. Criminal gangs will be put out of business. Drug use will go down since it's easier for an addict to seek help without fear of being punished for a crime.

Chris Christie and Mike Huckabee are being booted to the kid's table for the Fox Business Republican Debate. So the main debate stage will be reduced to 8 candidates.

The constant interruptions by everyone on The View. They don't even give her 5 seconds to respond if they disagree with her mid-sentence; might as well have a buzzer or a gong. Feels like they want to stir controversy so people get a bad feeling watching the segment and not want to vote for her. At least give like 20-30 seconds per question or it's just ludicrous to even be on the show. Ah well.

That said, I really don't like Fiorina's delivery for some reason. Political opinions aside, I feel like she smiles too much and blinks too long. I dunno, just gives me a weird vibe.

 

Carly is one of those candidates who I feel is reading from cue cards rather than speaking from her heart. Carson is the same way. I mean, even Trump does that despite the crap things that come out of his mouth.

 

I mean essentially, yeah, they're probably all reading from some sort of prepared material.

But Bernie and Trump sound like they're speaking from what they believe, no matter their position, whereas Fiorina, Carson, Hillary sound like they're being told what to say and don't really put much emotion or belief behind what they're fighting for.

Not to say that defines what a good President is, as with Obama despite being a good speaker. I just find it hard to get behind someone that doesn't really sound like they're behind what they're fighting for.

 

I still think Hillary has the best delivery out of all the candidates. Her pacing is perfect, she's eloquent, she gives the best eye contact, is calm, and doesn't over-gesticulate. And delivery pretty much almost always means winning. Obama over Romney (though Romney wasn't too bad), Bush over Kerry (looked disinterested), Bush over Gore (remember the robot jokes, lol), Bill Clinton over everyone, etc.

Bernie has too much of an imposing presence, especially when he's leaning forward on the podium. I'm surprised no one has brought it up to him.

Yes, it's early, but I put my money on Hillary winning.

 

The thing with Bernie is that he needs to detail what's he's proposing. I really like his affirmation, but I'm not 100% convinced of how he plans to execute on what he's preaching. That worked for Obama, but with Obama failing to live up to a lot of his "promises", that will really hurt Bernie's current method of campaigning, no matter how much sense he makes.

Hillary has the name and experience behind her as a politician. I would put it as she's comfortable with her position, and it's makes her seem confident.

I'm just going to say it again, I'm not confident with ANY of these current crop of candidates. It's quite sad.

 

Trump is calling for a ban on Muslims entering the country.

Besides how bigoted that is, how do you tell if someone is Muslim, and who makes that call?
