ick. develop a putrid culture of losing for a 50/50 shot at keeping a pick? that's worse than what hinkie's doing. at least he KNOWS he has a pick.
Screw emplay and his feeding us the company line, condoning this tank and B0ron staying employed. Jacka**.
I'm not sure that's a company line. I think it's just a fact at this point... I'm not sure the Lakers want to put it out there that they're tanking when their odds are so awful.
The FO hasn't said jack about any of this. They're using Kobe's farewell tour to distract from the garbage coaching and team. If B0ron isn't fired and they aren't reining Kobe in at all, then they support this, and that means "just ride this out and suffer" is the company line. Emplay has now said that B0ron shouldn't be fired because he's a good tank commander, and that the entire FO is enabling Kobe. That is the message I'm getting from the FO because they are allowing this, so again, logically that is the company line, "accept the losing, accept the coach, and accept Kobe doing whatever the hell he wants". I will not.
But it's not though. The company line is: "let's all enjoy Kobe!" The underlining context of course is: "Look over here while the world crumbles around us! Don't look away! You'll see things we don't want you to see!" and that's the one Pincus is saying right now. I don't think the Lakers WANT us thinking this way. I guess what I'm saying is the Lakers FO thinks we're stupid and we don't understand what's happening while we all stare directly at what's happening. If there's not some sort of massive change this summer, I'm probably not going to watch much next year either.
Oh I want that dude, no doubt about it, but I can't get my hopes up for a long-shot. Whoever does get him is getting a star though, I just hope it's not Philly, they don't deserve him. Silver should rig this thing and not reward their shameless tanking ".
Agreed. I like Ben Simmons a lot and I think it's kind of awesome that he has a history with Russell, but I'd much rather focus on things I can control. I'll still keep an eye on the top level talent, but I'll keep my hopes in check.
I still think it's a long shot we keep the pick and my expectations are low. But holy crap. What a stat line.
jeez...in a college game? there's only 40 minutes in which to pack all those stats. let's hope some team that was actually trying to win gets this guy.
40 minutes and a longer shot clock. That stat line is pretty amazing no matter who they were playing.
Simmons could grow another inch or two. If he ends up 6'11" 245 pounds, that's a center in today's NBA. c-Simmons, pf-Randle, sf-H. Barnes, sg-Clarkson, pg-Russell?
Why? I get the Simmons hype I'm sure he'll be great, but if this team can compile some wins and get back to respectability they can potentially attract a free agent. The writing is on the wall for Scott. He's not coming back and we have a higher chance at getting a FA then getting the #1 pick. Even if we can only get up to 25-30 wins that's still progress especially considering how much Kobe is struggling and the ineptitude with our coaching staff. A good one easily gets 10 more wins or so out of this team.
So who was the last great FA that we got? Let's see....oh that would be Shaquille which was in the last century. Don't give me this FA bull crap. Lakers build through trades and drafts
