Gotham is OK to me, nothing special. I really like the guy that plays Bullock, I do like Ben McKenzie, and I do like Penguin and some other villains, but so much of it bores me. I missed some of last season, so I don't know if the kid playing the Joker was introduced then, but I don't like it. I get it, you need the Joker, but I don't want to see kid Joker, or Joker backstory, I like him to have mystery. The actor playing him is fine, I just don't like the concept of it.
I stopped watching Gotham after episode 3 or 4. It just had nothing to hold my interest, and there were other DC shows like The Flash that I actually liked, so I didn't feel like I was missing out on DC comic shows.
Same here. I stopped after the first two episodes. I thought it'd be cool to see these detective stories in Gotham but knowing who these villains are and who that whiny kid will turn out to be killed any excitement for me.
The first two episodes of season 2 have been way more exciting than all of season 1, and I don't think that's saying much.
Arrow and Flash made their return this week. Both look promising. Flash diving into alternate universes and Arrow taking on special powers and mysticism. Both got a new suit more like in the comics, and Oliver finally takes on the name Green Arrow.
Green Arrow was a bit too "WB" for me after a while. By that I mean, pretty, rich, spoiled kids complaining about life and relationships. But I love the Flash. Not sure why, because it's not great at any one thing. It's acting, writing, special effects, everything is pretty mediocre, but I watch religiously. Maybe because the Flash was always one of, if not my favorite DC hero.
Villain rumors for the Batman movie http://www.slashfilm.com/rumor-ben-affleck-batman-movie-to-feature-red-hood/
That was cool. I don't even know why, it just was. Man do I feel wrong about Affleck not being right for Batman right about now, and damn superman looks pissed.
I like Afleck for Batman, but this movie is not looking good to me. I just don't like the aesthetics of anything they're doing in the trailers. The bowing down to Superman, ripping his mask off just screams B movie acting and writing to me. I expect this movie to be pretty bad
Spoiler: Fan Theory Spoiler I heard that actually may be a dream sequence based on the name of the toy with that Batman costume. It may explain why it feels so off. Spoiler: Plot Theory Spoiler Also have you been hearing about this theory that Bizarro is the main villain? What's that about? Affleck looks great as Bats though. A+ there. I'm not sure whether or not the movie will be just okay or good. Man of Steel really had me lower my expectations in that regard. I was so hyped seeing the trailers for MoS, but the movie itself was very blah. I think it was the decision to copy the Nolan Batman films' bleak and dark nature...hell even the colors were bleak and washed out (even Nolan didn't do this). While that's perfect for Batman, that ain't Superman in my book. Personally, for some reason, I think that Suicide Squad will end up being the superior DC movie in this first wave.
Yeah I was wrong about Batfleck. He looks perfect now that I've seen him there. And if that's NOT a dream sequence, I hate it. Superman can't have that kind of God complex, it ruins everything about who he is.
I expected it to be a vision from the future or alternate ending to their conflict that was revealed to Batman, still, I don't like. It's the definition of "too on the nose" for me.
I agree with barns. For me the whole DCCU just feels lacking and rushed, like someone said "Hey we can do a CU too, get that done started now". Marvel has been planning for years to do what is doing, DC is just throwing together crap and rightfully guessing that people will watch it cause batman is in it.
Why does superman have to have some kind of preconceived notion of what he is? A superman with some minor god complex makes it a lot more realistic for someone with that kind of power. Film looks good from the trailers so far.
but THAT is guys bowing to him and stuff. That's not a minor God complex, that's a huge one God complex.
I suppose but I still think its a more realistic approach to how someone would act if they had the power superman does.
I think the reality is that if a being such as superman or any other upper echelon super hero, aka hulk existed, they would either be worshipped or hated by most. They would be viewed as a savior/god or a threat to wiped out. If it was more like the x men level sure you would get the freak treatment, but with someone who could level a city is minutes its a different story. The other thing that DC always screws up is superman would be the most isolated being in the universe. They kjnd of touch on it in man of steel, but they never sig into it. The guy is not only the last of his kind, but he literally hears babies dying all the time. He is aware of the carnage happening all around the world and has to choose if he wants to help or not constantly. Supes would be seriously jacked up because of it. As for the trailers, the more that come out the less I want to pay to see the movie. The first big one with 3 Affleck angry grimace face pans was awful to me. The character designs in SS are generally terrible, some exceptions. But killer croc looks like a whompa on steroids from the love action super Mario brothers movie.
