Upshaw is at 5.8 Scoring Efficiency, 0.76 Passing Efficiency, and 3.8 Hustle Efficiency. Shame - he kicks to the shooters a lot, but Harris especially seems never happy with where he has the ball after a pass. He'll street ball til he gets his shot. No assists for those. Positional Efficiency: 82 I'd like to see that number over 90; that'd probably be an indication that he could be a contributor in the NBA.
Watching the 3rd quarter on TWC right now. Vander Blue has been a complete black hole offensively. Clearly frustrated and determined to get a whistle instead of play basketball. The refs aren't giving it to him. Upshaw has been solid.
They've found Upshaw on the block a few times here, but he keeps passing it out like trodgers said. I'd like to see him just take make a move. I also noticed where trodgers said he fades out after screens. I remember he was confident in his jumper coming into the draft.
The D-League is a strange beast. Good for conditioning and getting reps. Good if you actually look to make the basketball pass. Terrible if you just go 1 on 1 the whole game - like LA's wings want to do. Of course you'll put up numbers when you're doing that. For instance, Manny Harris's USG rate is ~20 in the NBA. It's ~30 in the D-league, and they're playing at a pace that's about 5-10% faster than the Lakers in the NBA.
I thought he could try to establish position a bit deeper. He's long, but he needs to keep adding strempf.
Yeah I think so. He just shoved a guy out of bounds. Very unprofessional and I didn't like it. There were a few times he had decent position there. He certainly wasn't using it though to score. It seemed like he wasn't even thinking about scoring honestly.
Meh little of both. He's working his way into speed, but the talent at that level is certainly lower than even what he saw in Training Camp.
He's doing some things better than preseason. Not all teams have dudes tall enough to match up, but last night he was up against some big bodies. I don't think the guy last night was over 6'9", but he was 295, according to the announcers.
Upshaw fouled out in 13 minutes last game, putting up 6 points, 4 boards, and 2 blocks. I haven't gotten to see that game except for a few minutes in the third. It's basically Manny Harris running up and down the court launching shots.
I've run stats on both Upshaw and Brown in the D-League. Scoring: Brown 6.6 (excellent), Upshaw 5.3 (adequate) Passing: Brown 2.0 (adequate), Upshaw 1.1 (terrible/poor) Hustle: Upshaw 3.7 (excellent), Brown 2.5 (solid) Positional Efficiency: Upshaw 75 (Big) - role player Brown 70 (Wing) - role player
