Asked myself this question as well, so I decided to look it up.

Mike Brown - Last year paid was 2014-2015 season 3.5 million
Mike Dan Tony -- Paid an undisclosed portion of $4 million salary in 2014-2015
    Byron Scott

Essentially, we don't owe any other coaches money this season at all.

Last year we paid part of Antoni's 4 million, and also 3.5 million for Potato Head, and on top of that BScott 4.25 million. Estimating Antoni at 3 million just because the Lakers are generous, that's about 10.75 million for the worst record in franchise history in 2014-15.

This year is 4.25 million, as well as two more years after this. It will be interesting to see if the Lakers are willing to consider eating more coaching salary beyond Byron's right now for who is available.

Considering Byron's resume and lifetime coaching winning % of about 40%, it's interesting that the Lakers paid him MORE than either Antoni or Brown.

Maybe we could, I dunno, stop giving out contracts longer than 2 years for a while? I don't think a 2 year contract next time is a bad thing to shoot for, especially if we go for a more unproven or younger coach.

No coach will sign that though. Especially since we keep firing ours.

Suggestion: maybe you could also use this thread to mention any potential candidates for the future head coaching vacancy.

    Byron isn't going to last...

Whoever they decided to hire should be surrounded with good assistants.

Probably should start a new thread dedicated to coaches or change the title on this one.

That said, I do like Ollie.

But I probably lean more toward Lue or Walton given that they are former Lakers who understand the franchise.

Great research sirron. That's reassuring to a degree. If management isn't sufficiently motivated to eat another coaching contract or is tired of paying coaches to stay away from the team, I know 80% (at least) of Laker fans would kick in a few bucks to a crowd funding campaign if it got this fool outta here.

I dunno, I think a lesser known or even college coach trying to get into the league might take that. If not 2 years, then 3 years for a much more reasonable per year rate than what Byron and 'Antoni command. What did Stevens get with Boston, or Blatt with Cleveland, or Snyder with Utah?

But not a lot of them on short contracts. Most guys like 4-5 years for security. I'm down with a reasonable salary though.

Ok, 4 years at 2 mil, that's less than half of what we are paying our current clown of a coach. Lol, my point is, stop giving coaches long contracts worth a bunch of money. If you're going to take a chance on a lesser known guy, college coach, international coach, don't pay him so you'll regret having to fire him. Unless Popovich decides to come here, stop throwing money at these mediocre or AWFUL coaches.

Man, poor Frank Vogel being paid in Frank Vogel, I don't know how that even works.
