Hate to admit but we play much better without Kobe.

Just thought it was interesting to note that Lou Williams is shooting 32.5% on the season. Kobe's at 32.0%.

Lou's averaging 11 shots a game while Kobe's at 16. I get why Kobe is shooting so poorly but what the hell Lou?

You have a good point but Lou gets to the line at a ridiculous rate so his efficiency is much higher I would imagine.

Also, Lou's never been a high FG% scorer, so we can only expect a marginal improvement from 32.5% going forward.

Lou on the roster is actually worse than Kobe since he's taking shots and minutes away from both DAR and JC ...

This was the 1st reason not to sign him .
The 2nd one was we already have Young as a scorer off the bench .

We're 0-2 without Kobe - against the East.

of course. this always happens. i was wondering why a) kobe looked so much better in the preseason, b) he's settling for threes as often as possible, and c) his form from distance looks horrible and different than it has at any other point in his career.

answer: back injury. not sure how i missed it, actually. but we always find out much later about whatever ailment kobe has that's been hindering his game.

anyway, i think this is it. back issues are no joke, and in old guys, they don't tend to improve easily.

Yep. This could take weeks to get right and even when it does he'll tweak something else. Anyone who thought he could keep going was fooling themselves, me included.

This season is a bust and the Lakers will likely lose their pick, but we're going to be in for a lot of development time with the young'ns.

I didn't look at efficiency but Lou gets to the line for 7 FT a game, Kobe gets there for 5.5 a game.

You're probably right that Lou has a better TS% but they both disrupt the offense and their ill-advised shots lead to bad defense on the other end.

You're right as well but we knew what Lou was/wasn't when we got him.

    True.

Every team can use a ball dominant chucker on the squad for when the offense stagnates. But we have three of them (Kobe, Lou and Nick). It just so happens that our core of three young players also need the ball in their hands to be effective. It's just not a good mix.

I wouldn't be opposed to trading Lou or Nick. But we need a quality guard or wing in exchange.

If we could trade Nick for a quality catch and shoot 3s wing that can defend that would be dreamy.

Yeah if I could choose I would probably trade Nick. Lou isn't nearly a black hole as Nick is. Lou runs plays and is a pretty good passer.

I've been very happy with Nick this season. He's been better defensively (he even drew a charge not too long ago). He's shooting really nicely from outside at 44% and more efficiently overall at 43.9% compared to 36.6% last year. He's doing this by taking less shots and moving within the offense more.

    He's been solid.

Well I've been pretty happy with both, but we're just talking the hypothetical here because @TIME mentioned Lou + Nick + Kobe could be too much chucking.

As for Nick shooting better, that is true, but we also know how fast Lou can improve or Nick can plummet.

Yeah, I have no beef with Nick so far this year. But we are not getting rid of Kobe, so it would be a choice between last year's sixth man of the year who also is a capable combo guard or Nick who, although playing nice right now has a long history of knuckleheadedness. So, if I could, I would trade Nick. But this is all unlikely. I just don't like the way the roster is balanced, but that's going to change next year most likely.

Well if I had to choose I'd pick Nick yeah. My first instinct though is to trade away Bass/Kelly to un-jam that log they've got there.
