eh, if rubio can actually shoot like that consistently, he IS the elite point guard of the west. that was the one glaring hole in his game. i thought the lakers played him wisely, quite frankly. who knew he became reggie freaking miller over the summer?

It was rough to watch. Bryon basically did nothing to change things when we lost the 16 point lead.

Sounds like Byron! There were a few bad moments in the first half, just horrible possessions but I really didn't think we'd crap the bed.

It is kind of sad that I went to sleep around the same time and I woke up somewhat expecting to see us blow it.

This is really a loss that can be directed at Byron and Kobe..

Byron didn't make coaching decisions to stop that comeback at all.. he didn't take time outs to slow the pace, they didn't adjust. They didn't try to control the pace on the offensive end at all even. They didn't try to work the ball inside hardly at all.. wouldn't mind a 3pt attempt when it's a kick out to an actual open player.

Then you have Kobe, alright fine he's rusty and hasn't played much. But that isn't the issue, he came back in the game completely hogged the ball and launched rockets at the rim from 40ft all over the court. That wasn't what they needed, you'd expect a veteran to come into a game where they're struggling and try to play some smart basketball. Kobe had some nice feeds, and I know the guy is just trying to win.. but why is he the last guy to realize he needs to take higher percentage shots closer to the rim?

Sigh.. facepalm opener and a big loss. Wins aren't going to be easy so giving them away is huge IMO.

The knock on Byron in NJ and NO was he lacked in making in game adjustments. Jason Kidd was especially critical of him. He made a game plan and stuck with it come hell or high water. When a guy like Rubio who historically is a bad shooter is lighting it up, A good coach reacts, forces him to pass to get him out of that rhythm...that should have happened at the start of the second half. The 4th quarter Kobe was so painful to watch, that's where a Popovich, Jackson would have pulled him after the first couple of forced bricks.

Yeah, some freaking adjustments in game for the love of god Byron. [IMG] And try some Tarik Black in there at times in place of Kelly if you're not going to play him ever in place of Bass. Neither Bass nor Kelly should be playing the bench 5 position. Kobe even commented today I saw somewhere, that yeah 13 3s was (excessive). Why the f*** didn't you have the balls to bring it up during the game in the 2nd half when it started to really hurt us with his chucking.

Byron still can't figure out the rotations or how to maximize players potential, yet you want him to do an in-game adjustments:giggle: We should be happy Roy is still playing the 5...

I agree with you all the way here except the end. Yes, Kobe ball hog mode was horrible but neither one of those coaches would have pulled him. However, they certainly would have talked with him at a time out and let him know that he needed to move the ball, reminded him of what his approach was in the preseason, maybe point out that he didn't have a single assist yet . . . But point taken, Byron should have let him know what he was doing was hurting the team, not helping. And he didn't! He did nothing to change what was happening despite losing a 16 point lead. I agree with you that it was straight out bad coaching.

Didn't we used to have a coach here that wanted Peace at the 2? :) The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Byron is just so far ahead of the curve with his advanced offensive and defensive schemes that our players don't have the skill, knowledge, or experience to execute them yet.

As a former coach of the year, he knows he has to let them fail some in order to achieve greater success.

My WMC? I wish we gave Byron better players so that he could settle on a rotation and teach the advanced concepts.

Perhaps the most brilliant lineup with Kelly at the 5 didn't work well because our players don't have the experience or skill.
