I think they should just end the preseason after that last game. I saw all the things I wanted to from the young guys: randle causing havoc, Russell showing flashes, Clarkson progressing as a more reliable option, nance finally doing positive things, Upshaw doing interesting stuff on each end, even Kelly diversifying his game. all good things. maybe play the vets the last couple of games to get tuned up...and to not kill my youth buzz.
It's nice to see some wins. I don't even care if it's preseason and they don't count. After an 0-8 preseason a few years ago, and bad ones after that too, I don't want to see a losing culture being accepted anymore. I know there's zero indication this leads into the regular season, but I'd so much rather see this going into it than blowout losses.
That was a really fun game tonight! I kind of loved watching it. This team has some real camaraderie, too. I liked how the bench was all doing their Ron biceps pose when he went up strong in the post, and how they all went nuts for Kelly's throw down at the end. It's a really easy team to like and root for.
Can't remember seeing chemistry this good since Ariza and the bench mob were still around. On the court is still a work in progress, but coming along nicely.
Jesus this team is exciting. I'm ready for anything knowing this is the beginning of another title run.
Just wait till the next offseason... another "Wes Johnson type" will call us a bunch of selfish scrubs
Can we get some love for Byron designing the perfect play for the perfect player in that last play? He knew they weren't going to expect that fake hand off, and I like that he must have told Kelly dunk it. No layups or weak shots at the basket.
I admit I kind of expected a Swaggy P off balance contested 3 point attempt. That last play had me laughing because it was so unexpected. It was a good play though.
Of all the positives from last night's win, one of the things that got me most excited was D'Angelo's poise in those last few minutes knocking down those jumpers. Albeit a preseason game, it gave me the sense that he isn't afraid of big moments and can stay cool under pressure, which is a definite necessity when you talk about a franchise building block.
Coach Nick seems to be very confident about our future big 3 http://bballbreakdown.com/2015/10/2...-so-bright-they-wont-even-need-future-lakers/
^ that was an encouraging analysis, thanks for sharing. My optimism for today - this place hasn't turned into the usual armageddon after the embarrassment courtesy of the Warriors. Seems like there is some positivity floating around still. Me like it
A comment from the comment section: "I strongly disagree. Randle can’t do nothing without the ball. He is no better than….Terrence Jones. Jodran Clarkson is your everybay backup point guard who know nothing except scoring. Russell remind me of Kendall Marshall, excellent passer—and that’s all. And they can’t guard anybody. The lakers are going to be the 2010s Sacramento Kings without drafting DeMarcus Cousins or Tyreke Evans." Are people really this dumb.
We're blind homers (mostly), they're haters. We saw what JC can do and that's about it. Russell can be either another white chocolate (although Jason could shoot it) or another Marshall. As for Julius... i just don't know.
I feel good about our guys. They can play but are too young. It's the facts of life. You need time to be any good.
Well... Randle does set screens to help pick n roll and he also rebounds, does that count as not doing nothin without the ball? Clarkson is a starting guard, or he wouldn't keep holding his own vs other starting guards. Russell, his ceiling is way higher than Kendall Marshall, that's a hater right there.
