And most importantly, he made an IMPACT, unlike blending in with the wallpaper Sacre over there. He's not going to tear it up out there, but at least he does SOMETHING.
He needs to learn how to contest shots without fouling..... progress though! And much better than Sacre.
He looked good. He's still a long ways off, but I'm now willing to give him a shot over Sacre. The presence of Tarik Black makes me more willing to give Upshaw time, but guys he's at least a year or two away.
It was always more of what I think will happen given the Lakers' needs and what they've done in the past.
I have that fear. I think it would be a mistake, but I do think that letting him go and hoping he hangs out in the D-league is LA's move. It's just how we handle business. And we've lost talent this way previously.
Yeah the Lakers, even with this last draft and passing on Okafor, like their big men to be NBA ready when they get here. Besides Bynum, they've been generally uninterested in developing big men. So the question is: do they see a future All-Star in Upshaw? If not, they won't waste their time/roster spot.
I'm not giving that spot to Sacre that's for sure. I'd rather watch Upshaw try to develop than Sacre loaf around.
Well ...... peeps here were writing Randle off after one or two pre-season games as not being all that. Needed more minutes and games to get his rhythm and swag going. I know that Bob's not Julius but am thinking if he had gotten more time to date in these games that he'd be looking better as well. I think by Christmas he's solid 3rd string for us. Don't efff this up Mitch. What have you done for us since last week? :MitchReally:
http://www.nba.com/lakers/releases/151020_frazierUpshaw Upshaw waived... I'm disappointed honestly. As much as a system guy Sacre is, Upshaw's potential was too much to pass up imo. I hope he finds his way to the D-League and wants to stay in this organization. But he'll be picked up soon no doubt.
I know we're all Laker fans here and were pulling for him big time but honestly... He didn't look that great. He's got some talent for sure, but he was awful boxing out, he struggled as a help defender which was supposed to be his strength, and while he showed some offensive versatility he didn't finish well around the rim. He was given the chance to shine last night and didn't make much of an impact. He'll be in the D-League for a while and I think it'll be a couple months before he starts making a splash there even.
