Seems clear to me Frazier, Holmes, Jabari are gone. After that, the only one I've really seen speculating at all is Pincus, and he says he feels it's between the Roberts, and that Sacre is cut. Man I hope he's right. Edit: aaaaand now 50 seconds ago he tweets this Now I hope he's wrong, *sigh*.
Bad luck for Holmes but I think he's not one of the roster spots anyway. Certainly not Frazier. Jabari's been looking not bad last couple games. Tough call between the two Bobs. Sacre has couple years of experience on Upshaw and is stronger. Upshaw has more "up"side to him.
As far as backups go and limited minutes are concerned: All I know is that I can potentially see Upshaw turning the course of a game with a great block or defensive play. I can see Sacre turning the course of a game with a turnover, bad foul, or other boneheaded play. It's a no brainer to me.
Jabari had a very nice game tonight, and actually reminded me of why I liked him last year. That was the first time I've seen him confident and back to that guy this preseason. Nice to see. I think he stays if he keeps this up.
This would be my ideal final roster: Brandon Bass Tarik Black Anthony Brown Kobe Bryant Jordan Clarkson Roy Hibbert Marcelo Huertas Ryan Kelly Larry Nance Jr. Julius Randle D'Angelo Russell Robert Upshaw Louis Williams Metta World Peace Nick Young Jabari Brown Michael Frazier II Jonathan Holmes Robert Sacre
That's what I would do except I'd probably switch Browns, keeping Jabari and bailing Anthony Brown who does nothing at all for me (or seemingly for the Lakers). At least Jabari scores. Once again in 18 minutes of play Anthony Brown scored zero points on 0 for 4 shooting.
A Brown isn't going anywhere unfortunately, 2 year deal, guaranteed deal for one year I believe, probably team option for 2nd. Jabari needs to go too IMO, and he probably will, he's a black hole. Don't see how we need that when we have Lou and Young on the bench already. Much rather use that spot for Upshaw. Yeah, he's raw and makes mistakes, but he also gets you some blocks, rebounds, and can actually shoot.
Hate drudging this one back up, but here are Aldridge's thoughts on the meeting and Kobe. http://www.si.com/nba/2015/10/20/op...ockets-lamarcus-aldridge-spurs-season-preview Definitely won't hear anything about the Kobe part from any talking heads.
It's both unbelievable and completely believable that the media absolutely RAN with the "Kobe is bad for FAs" headlines and yet when Aldridge defends him, there's NO BUZZ AT ALL. F*** you news outlets.
Good stuff. We still blew the meeting, though. LOL!. Sounds like the 2nd one didn't go much better; you have to learn from these things, and I think we will. Fact is we were coming off a 21-win season and to even having a meeting setup with the best FA out there shows you that our brand is still strong. We'll land somebody. I'm not so worried about it.
