Yeah he looks great! No to not starting D'Angelo. Put him out there with Clarkson and let them play together. He seems to get more confident every game and should play with guys that can handle his best game. He'll only figure it out that much quicker. He's also looking like he gave us the 5 more pounds in muscle. Clarkson is off the charts with his confidence and play right now. Just like Westbrook and Durant their first year, but with better team around them here ..... let em play. IMO.
He's gonna be a solid backup PG. I like what I saw. He sees the floor very well. He does look like a curly haired Nash, right down to the one-legged pull up shots.
Dude does live up to the nickname Brazilian Steve Nash. I like him already. Brings that back up veteran PG that I desperately wanted us to go after in the off season.
Excellent pick up. Solid PG play - set up everyone, took a charge, made a couple nice shots himself. Awesome debut!
If he can make our second unit look that good to the point they were running GS second unit off the floor, how can you not sign him. I'm almost on board with him starting over Russell. Yeah I think he can make our starting unit very lethal and Russell can gain valuable experience playing with the second unit. However with Huertas off the bench we could have one of the best bench in the league with him running that unit. I think I prefer that to him starting.
He looked really comfortable last night, sees the floor extremely well and seems to understand the game greatly. I came away very impressed and I do not see why he can not bring his level of play yesterday to every game.
That looked almost exactly like what we thought Nash would be. Fantastic. Having him off the bench for D'Angelo changes everything about the team just like we thought he would. Just imagine when the SG in there with him is Lou Williams instead of Jabari Brown? One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet that comes with being a true PG is knowing when a player is losing focus. Huertas recognized that Nick Young was starting to detach from the offense and immediately made an effort to get him involved. What happens? Nick pops off AND the offense trusts each other to move the ball and look for each other just like Huertas is. Russell needs a little more of that in him and he should get it as he comes along.
You ain't kiddin. I'm watching this guy thinking to myself that this is what Steve Nash was supposed to bring when we signed him. He looked damn good last night.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see 15 assists between them a game. watching highlights of Huertas, I noticed he hit his guys in rhythm, and on the button. I was probably impressed most by that.
Too bad we didn't bring the Brazilian Steve Nash over instead of the real one. Who knows though. That one dynamic changes, along with all that money saved and other free agents brought in and we likely don't have any of Clarkson, Randle or Russell. And maybe no one yet worthy of being passed the Lakers torch. Those guys don't grow on trees, no matter how well you ball.
Marcello Lou Williams Young Kelly Upshaw is a great bench lineup. I don't know why but i'm over Black. After last night give me Larry Nance all day.
I don't know why you're over Black either. He's a better small ball center and even center against the stronger 5's at this point than Upshaw is yet and earned his stripes last year. Nance is a PF. Right now he's 4th string behind Kelly and rightly so.
I'm still on the black bandwagon, too. as for huertas, loved his floor general-ing (that's a word now). I want to see him knock down a couple open threes before going berserk, though. that's what let other slower international imports find rotation spots in the nba (like prigioni and to some extent Greivous Vasquez). if he can do that in addition to what he's doing with the pass, it can make up for his slow feet on d. good job talking out there, too, he seems like a natural leader.
