Lamar Odom Discussion: Celebrity Boxing?

Most of the recent tweets from Twitter and ESPN have him awake, breathing on his own, and some communication.

 

I think if he survives maybe this is the real wakeup call. ???????? Scary thing too though is one report said 4 major organs were ( in distress). This could do a number on him physically. He will be happy I would hope that Khloe was one of first there. And good on her for doing that. She seems like one of the truly "best" Kardashians.... if there's a distinction and to have truly been much in love with Lamar. Until he made the situation impossible.

 

If he suffers from brain damage then he really doesn't have a choice but to change things in his life.

 

Great news to hear that Lamar is conscious. Still a long way for his recovery. Really hope he can fully recover from all this. It'll be a shame if he has brain damage or isn't the same, but at the same time that is his doing. Things didn't look good yesterday. At least he is alive right now.

 

These updates seem to hinge on interpretation of events, wishful-thinking, and erroneous reporting. Like everyone else, I don't know what is really accurate or current. But I really do hope LO is improving. Best case scenario and he comes out of this with his body whole, the underlying psychological issues that have been suggested (I know depression has been mentioned) really need to get addressed, especially if this was a suicide attempt. Bleak as it is, if he really tried to kill himself, it might be possible he might be mortified to wake up and find himself still alive.

 

Definitely a good day, coming out of the coma is a huge and being able to breathe on his own is a step in the right direction. Hopefully it's as positive as everyone is making it out to be.

If he recovers from this and is functionable, I bet the Lakers create a front office position for him. That's just the kind of organization we are.

 

He's a long way away from recovering but I agree, the Lakers will try to find him a position here.

 

Apparently LO was not without oxygen during this whole thing. That is a HUGE deal if true. Though he was admittedly pretty hypoxic, he wasn't anoxic. But reportedly he did still have some strokes likely secondary to cocaine vasoconstriction, the degrees of which are still unknown. Still a bit of a small win I think.

Here's another one of my favorite Lamar games from back in our '09 run. 28 points and 17 boards from Lamar and Kobe was sick but still dropped that ridiculous high arching fade in LeBron's face. I was convinced we were winning the title that year after watching this game.

 

The ultimate unselfish team player. When he put it all together like that game, it made us strong. Hard to believe he was able to do that living on candy.

Lamar Odom Awake, Responsive In Hospital

Lamar Odom was awake and responsive with his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian on Friday. Odom's heart has showed evidence of increased function.

“She reached down and said ‘you know I love you’ and he kind of nodded,” Jim Harrick said. “Three or four days after being scared to death and fearing the worst, that is a little hope, a little progress. She texted me that (information).”

Harrick coached Odom at Rhode Island.

Kardashian and Odom are still technically married as their divorce has not yet been finalized.

Entertainment Tonight reported Odom responded "yes" when asked if he wanted to see his children Friday, though it did not specify whether the communication was verbal. ABC 7 reported Odom said "good morning" and gave the doctors a thumbs-up.

Tests on Odom revealed his heart function was "much better" on Friday, and doctors said a critical organ responding is a good sign of improvement, TMZ reported.

 

hopefully he recovers and somehow get weaned of his addiction, kinda my science fiction dream that he gets lobotomized by the series of mini strokes he reportedly suffered.
