Really hope Lamar pulls through and if he does that he finally sees he needs help and need to go and get it. He's been on a destructive path since being traded in 2011. Hopefully he can get back on a good path to a recovery.

It is said that God will not give you more than you can handle. Lamar has had so much tragedy that either this is not true or Lamar is one tough man.

Praying for his recovery. By all accounts, Lamar is a really nice person. I know many are praying for him. Don't stop!!

Sorry to bring this up, but it's hard to feel like Jesse Jackson showing up isn't self serving. While a nice gesture, he tends to show up only where there will be cameras to notice. He Sickens me.

One story about Odom that always sticks for me was when Luke Walton was down in the dumps for personal reasons [I believe it was his dad's health, his diminished playing time to injuries...]. The former who was also going through his own problems at the time noticed and they both went for some brews... Walton said he was re-invigorated after that time spent. Just shows how good a person Odom really is despite his own turmoil.

Not feeling positive about his current plight...but hoping for the best.

I follow Bonnie Jill Laflin on facebook and twitter. She was a Laker scout, among many other things. She is hurting bad over this. She said she saw Lamar last month and he was happy and doing good. She said Jesse only showed up for publicity.

Stephen A and Skip share their LO stories. Both had some really nice things to say about him, including Stephen A's comment that LO never said one negative word about anyone. Just doesn't have it in him and has too big of a heart

I really really want him to get through this.

It's hard relating to most professional athletes due to the level of arrogance and narcissism in many of them, especially superstars. LO just comes across as being a good down to earth dude, which makes it easy to relate to him. During his time in LA, I rooted for him harder than I did anyone else. When we won those 2 titles, I wasn't only happy as a Laker fan, I was happy for him as well.

I hope he can somehow overcome the extreme tragedy he has dealt with and find a way to live life one day at a time.

He was one of the easiest players to root for as a fan. Sure there were frustrating moments but man when he was on his game it was a joy to watch. One game that comes to mind for me was the game 5 closeout in Orlando in 2009. Back to back threes in the 3rd quarter and the beautiful back and forth fastbreak between him and Pau off the Ariza steal finished by Lamar with the sweet layup.

I'm hoping and praying he gets through this.

Lamar's jersey is the only Lakers jersey I ever needed to have besides Eddie Jones. It bothered me how much he got hated on in his early days as a Laker because it was obvious how good of a dude he was and was more concerned with helping the team than worrying about his own numbers. I don't get emotionally attached to athletes but this is different. The last few years have been difficult but I always thought he'd figure it out before it was too late. One of my top 3 Lakers of all-time and it would be heartbreaking to lose him. Just the report of him suffering brain damage makes me sick to my stomach. Hopefully he gets through this and can at least find some semblance of his old self.

I'm pulling for Lamar and hope he can survive this and not be messed up from it. Lamar is a good guy and it was our pleasure to have him in his prime during our 2 championships. So talented. Loved it as well when he enraged KG by slapping him or pinching him on the butt, early the following season to let him know the Lakers were coming at them again and weren't backing down from their bully crap that next year we won it all against Orlando, after the C Bags punked us in the Finals.

I hope he can come back from this, and this finally puts all those demons to rest. He just fell away the last few years, and I wish he can recover. I have a feeling the fight will still be there when he revives. Did my heart good to see Kobe and the others visited Lamar. It is not an easy thing for some people to do and see, but it is the right thing.

That is parents all the way, or in Lamar's case his grandmother Mildred. She is OG (Original Granny) with old school values. Like most people from those days, those values are way higher than these days. They know respect and humbleness and don't take things like money for granted because no one had any or the opportunity to make any.

I managed an insurance brokerage circa '07-'09 @ Bevery Glen & Ventura Blvd that was next door to a Subway that Lamar (amongst other NBA players like Shaq) would frequent very regularly I guess because Bel Air was right up the street. LO would spend 5 mins figuring out what he wanted then always order the same thing, double meat turkey & avacado, then stand around out front eating it talking to people that wanted to meet him. Every other NBA player was in and out of the place (Shaq talked to me for a couple minutes once but I think he was waiting for his driver) and LO would hang for 20 mins or more talking to fans (this is during first championship with Pau era too). There were also various other celebrities in that shopping center every day and they all just ignored people and avoided contact. LO is one of the very few famous people I've seen who is not that self-important and is thankful for the love.

If Odom stayed a Laker, he'd probably be in a better state...maybe even still playing. He's only 35. Not the spry colt as he once was but with his durability, versatility and high ball IQ, he would have found ways to be effective. I see players in The League still hanging about that does not have as much talent.

That segment sheds light on how much he loved being with the organization. So much so that he introduced himself as a Laker filming a Clipper promo. I don't know about him not talking mess about others but he did call Matt Barnes a "bag of doo doo" after that contentious game with Orlando [the ball fake to the face of 24].

In the 2011 Playoffs, he walked several miles to Staples just to show he was one of the people. Several hangers on, fans and what not including then L.A. Times columnist T.J. Simers went with him. That crank Simers did not care for too many athletes including most of the Lakers but he had a fondness for Odom so that says something.

Apparently he had cocaine in his system from the brothel. It's being investigated because they initially claimed there was no evidence of drug use meaning the brothel may have provided the cocaine. He also had 10 doses of the herbal aphrodisiac in 3 days. The police were unable to rule out a potential suicide attempt.
