Byron believes in 3 point shooting now? Maybe this also means Ryan Kelly gets more playing time at back up PF than Brandon Bass if he wants a little more 3 point shooting.

:D Byron getting religion, or being forced into arranged marriage with analytics or telling the truth? My guess the last option as it's true.

    I think it's a big combination of:

    1. Future is here, get on board or get lost.
    2. Epiphany.
    3. The Lakers said either you get in line with this or we find a new coach.
    4. Our team doesn't suck as much as it did last season so threes make more sense.

He gets no props for this, only a "bout time, welcome to the NBA of the 21st century".

spinning it or blaming it on personnel.....poor form Byron.

    :noyoudidnt:

I could pull out your verbatim quotes, but I don't care enough. But essentially you said you didn't believe 3 Pointers were a big part of championship teams. While the rest of the NBA snickered.

^^^ And while a 3 point shooting team went out and won the championship. He did say he didn't believe 3 pointers were important to title teams, and he should admit that, move on, and change. I would guess that teams that jack up threes more than anything else, probably don't win titles. But, I'd also guess that if we looked back at the last decade or so, the team that won it all shot threes pretty well.

    1. the lakers do have better shooters this year, in theory. I think Houston proved last year that you can't just chuck more threes and expect good things to happen. they had a (fake) mvp candidate and couldn't field a top-10 offense despite being on the "cutting edge" of offensive philosophy. you want threes if you have guys who can shoot them (like gs).

    2. however, he did imply that they weren't a big part of the game, and they are. still, see point 1. gs has two of the best three point shooters in the last decade (one of whom may go down as the greatest of all time). this is hardly a blueprint for most teams to follow.

You been watching them this pre-season? I'd say so. They're chucking threes like the three-point line won't be there tomorrow.

Our offensive schemes look so disorganizes so far this preseason, I think we're going to be relying on the 3pt just as a way of bailing out a play. It will probably be a bad shot, and it will probably not go in, but we'll be putting up 25 or so 3's no problem.

Of all the problems I'm seeing on the court so far, concentrating on 3pt shooting is not my main concern.

Sorry Kobe's my guy. How does he manage to still jump backwards into the air to get off Js with his turnaround against taller players that have been watching him shoot it for 19 years, if he has no lift? Not true and slanderous to boot.
