Kid looked unbelievable. I know he's a good runner, but the offensive line I thought would hold him back. What an effort by the line to give him some room and what an effort from the kid himself to find space. My favorite thing about him is how fast he hit the line. He gets on you QUICK.
Serious question, because we revisit this every year: what're your thoughts on Kaepernick? Still better than Romo?
I still like Kaepernick. I wish he had Romos offensive line. Things would be a lot different. Today, Kaep completed 66% of passes, 2 TDs, ran for 50 yards. He can't stop the defense from giving up 40+ points. I only saw the 1st qtr, but receivers dropped some easy passes that he hit them in the hands. Happens to everyone, but was a recurring theme last year.
Read the recent write-up on Tomsula and he is the kind of everyman that is good to wish success for. Crazy journey from where he came from to head honcho. http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2015/07/22/nfl-jim-tomsula-san-francisco-49ers Reminds me of Stan Van Gundy...and another infamous "celebrity" that I choose not to name.
Tomsula has his players' respect in droves but you could be right that he will be outmatched against seasoned head coaches. If he has competent assistants/coordinators, I figure he'd be sensible enough to lean on them. In other news NFC West Edition... Seahawks 0-2 [grin] and Rodgers takes a dig at Wilson.
My prediction: 3-13 Harbaugh was fired after going 8-8, but Tomsula won't be fired. They've got the guy they want (he won't criticize ownership or the GM) and they have a fall guy who is just happy to be there. Gonna be a lonnnnnnnng season.
Now that I'm back, it's time to bump this. Chip Kelly thoughts? It won't be boring, that's for damn sure. Also, I think Torey Smith is set for a monster season.
Big upgrade over Tomsula. Don't think we have the talent to be a playoff team. O line still stinks. Defense will be okay. Offense will score more than last year, but that's not really saying anything.
Liking the potential of your defense... Funny back in the 1980's, all the talk was about the Walsh West Coast offense but not much of the defense which was highly underrated.
Great 1st day for SF. Took advantage of a stupid Bears team and then got some really solid players. If Foster can get/stay healthy, he'll be a great piece.
