So we signed him to a 3 year contract and he'll be on IR the entire time?

I was wondering where he'd end up. I know the mavs had him on their radar prior to the dwill buyout. I like me some prigioni, and huertas certainly is that kind of player. younger than prigs when he came over, too. wonder if he'll be a placeholder starter over Russell or a backup, as indicated.

He's definitely better than Price. Offers veteran leadership, likes P&R, dosn't need to score much, will play limited minutes. Nothing wrong with this move. In any case, he's better than our current NBA options. I don't expect anything spectacular from him, but he won't do anything stupid either.

    Nice!

Although I love the edge Jabari plays with, I see Jabari as the odd man out here. Between JC/Lou Will/Kobe will eat up most of the minutes at SG, even Russell might get some run there. At PG, we'll see a combo of Russell and JC, Huerta may be experienced enough to start.

Tarik is a definite in for the team, I don't see any situation where he doesn't. Huerta seems like a solid veteran to share minutes at PG.

As for the last spot, I hope it's between Holmes and Upshaw.

I see Holmes, Anthony Brown, Larry Nance Jr., Frazier, and Upshaw going to the D-Fenders.

I see the rotation today being:
    Russell/Huestas
    Clarkson/Williams/Brown
    Bryant/Young
    Randle/Bass/Kelly
    Hibbert/Black/Sacre

Then eventually you get rid of Kelly and bring in Holmes or Larry Nance Jr.

Huertas if he lives up to his billing can run the second unit...set up Williams, Young and Bass. If he is not a scoring type PG as characterized then it would be a good fit.

I agree. He's a perfect fit next to people like Lou and Swag who like to shoot. Someone needs to set them up.

I don't get why Kelly and Sacre are still here. They should have been gotten rid of months ago, they're wasted roster spots right now.

I understand Sacre for now if/until Upshaw is ready...

Kelly I'm sort of not understanding. It looks like they're trying desperately to find a replacement for him with young talent. I know he's had a rough time finding a niche with the team, but Kelly still has talent. The real problem is he was drafted for a D'Antoni team and I don't think he fits in with what Byron wants to do.

The thing is, we don't need to replace Kelly. He won't even play with all the PF's we have now, and he's not talented enough to have to replace what you'll lose if he's gone. Same with Sacre, we have enough bigs now, and even if we didn't it's time to take a chance on a different young big with a higher ceiling.

On some level I agree and on other levels, I say wait.

Is Sacre at his ceiling? Yeah probably. But that ceiling of a 3rd String Center is fine when he's behind two guys already. Does Upshaw have a higher ceiling? Absolutely but we don't know if he's physically ready yet and we certainly don't know if he's mentally ready yet. Sacre can step in and give us 20 minutes of 4/4 with 6 fouls and handle it just fine physically. Can Upshaw? We don't know yet.

For Kelly... If Holmes or Nance Jr. shows significant growth by/in Training Camp, then I think we just release Kelly. I think we explored some trade avenues, but I'm not sure anything could materialize there. The same questions arise though: are Larry Nance Jr. and Jonathan Holmes physically/mentally capable of playing that many minutes? We'll see in four weeks. In the meantime, there's no rush.

There is a rush, because I'm tired of looking at their stupid faces! :puke:

Seriously though, I am, I don't wanna watch these guys play in Laker jerseys anymore, they remind me of the depths our franchise has sunk to, and how much we suck if they have to be rotation players.

That is a fair point. I definitely don't like being reminded of this:
