Play him 10mis a game to punch "wheelchair" and other punks who need punching...and a little D, I don' think he has any O left in him. Last year in Chinese League he was pretty bad...

With Byron at the helm, no way Panda plays 5-10 mins a game. Watch him make the starting 5 and play close to 20-25mins...

No thanks. I was happy with we didn't have to watch his horrible left handed layup attempts anymore.

If that's the case, then all interest is lost. No thanks. 10-12 mins is good enough. I'm visualizing a KG role that he has w/the Wolves.

World Peace to Potentially Reunite with Lakers
    Monday, Aug. 24
Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday the Los Angeles Lakers are toying around with the idea of bringing back World Peace, who played for the team from 2009 to 2013. Wojnarowski added that members of the Lakers organization have "varying degrees of interest" regarding the move.

The 35-year-old's last stop in the NBA came with the New York Knicks. He played 29 games in the Big Apple, averaging 4.8 points and two rebounds a night in 13.4 minutes on the floor. The Knicks waivedWorld Peace in February 2014.

After his departure from New York, World Peace moved overseas, spending short stints with the Sichuan Blue Whales in China andPallacanestro Cantu in Italy.

Critics will view this as another sign the Lakers will be mired in mediocrity in 2015-16. According to Basketball-Reference.com, World Peace hasn't had a positive net rating since the 2009-10 season, and he hasn't had a PER above 15.0—the league average—since 2008-09.

However, the Lakers are a very young team. Having another experienced player like World Peace in the locker room could be a benefit to guys like D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson.

No matter what happens, a reunion between Los Angeles and World Peace would at least provide plenty of entertainment.

ok, I think I'm ok with him as a player coach type, but apparently he has no business on the floor any more. It's easy to want to root for people's best moments like they are still possible, but the reality is his best value to us is likely in practice helping guard/teach our young guys the nuances of the game.

I think that's a little overblown. Byron is going to rely on his young guys this season because we have literally no choice. Not to mention Metta hasn't played in the NBA in over a year and is probably not very good anymore. I'm sure he's a practice fiend, but in NBA games? I'm not sure he's a real contributor beyond a few minutes. Last season was a tank season, this one really can't be. Byron will put the best five guys out there and as long as we have just SOME luck on the injury front, I think we'll be in good shape.

That's literally the only reason I want him. That and to send Kobe out with an old friend, that'd be a nice gesture.

My tank isn't on zero yet. I know a lot of you guys have him there, but I've still got some hope. How much can you really take from last year as his fault? Not that much to me honestly.

So, we can assign 3-4 guys to the D-league, right? Nance, Holmes, and possibly Brown. The more I think about it, why not? If there's a way we can take him on while having our 14 man roster for flexibility, and he signs a 1-year minimum deal, I don't see the issue.

Nash served the same role last season and we paid him 9 million dollars. He accelerated Clarkson's development; if Ron can have that same effect, I'd welcome that. Plus, with our schedule, we're on the road a lot the first 2 months; it'd be nice to have another veteran presence while we hit the road which will be a lot...

Also, doesn't the league subsidize minimum level contracts?

I thought that was just as cap help. I thought we paid Sacre his full salary, but that only the minimum counted against the cap?

I never was a fan of Byron. Not with the Nets (he had a prime Kidd there and the East sucked), not with the Cavs ( big LOL), not when we signed him. If he wasn't a former Laker, i would hate him with a passion.

I don't hate him at all. I find value in the way he's hard on young guys and gets them to mature and grow well into the NBA game.

I fully admit he's not a good head coach. He's fairly average in just about everything but player development. He's below average in some other spots...

I think Metta will be a GREAT ASSET once we reach the playoffs.

Even though it would make us worse on the court, I'd still be fine with him coming back for 15 minutes a game just for the benefits he'd bring to the young guys in practice.

Has to be for a player development coach position... right? I'm sure Mad Dog could use some help banging with the bigs in practice.
