So I've recently picked up hiking. Does anyone know of any good trails around LA or the San Fernando Valley?

    Thanks!

I think it's called Shipwreck trail.

It's a trail on the coast, somewhere south of Venice beach. It's a great hike, but you're walking on smooth rocks almost the whole way, so you're using leg muscles you didn't know you had to balance the whole way, and even though it's relatively short, it's very challenging.

Go early in the day before the tide starts to get high. I't super scenic with the ocean, a few dead seal carcasses when I went, and you know you reached the end when you reach a big shipwreck on the beach. That's when you have to scale a really steep hill to get back to a road to walk back because if you're like me and my friends, we hiked regularly, but this one kicked our a**, so we didn't want to turn around and walk back the way we came.

I enjoy hiking, but living in Oklahoma, it's pretty much like enjoying snow skiing and living in Hawaii.

Sounds great, I'll try it one of these days. I live in the Valley and I've been on a couple trails out there, slowly making my way towards LA and then OC for trails.

I'm not very familiar with trails in LA, but I know there's a lot of good ones. I am familiar with OC though, and there's a bunch here too, from Irvine, Laguna, Orange, Tustin, Anaheim Hills, Costa Mesa, just to name a few.

Ah I see. Yeah I picked up hiking as a nice workout with nature as oppose to paying a monthly fee for a gym and rarely going. I've been trying to go hiking every other day if the weather is decent.

I've heard nothing but good things about OC trails. The weather is nice out there and the views are probably even better than the ones I get. Unfortunately its a long drive for me and can only go on weekends.
