Denver is making sneaky good moves around the edges to still field a competitive team around their stars.

I love this take. And I totally agree. This is what it needs to be. This needs to be the starting lineup.

It would be interesting with two none shooters and Cam with Luka. Steep learning curve.

Players learn by playing. I like slashers, dunkers, fast break energy, on and off ball screens. I can do without the lazy offense of just standing in one place and shooting a three once in a while if the defense sags off. That proves to me the coach doesn't know xs and os enough to install a real offense. Let Luka and AR cook with some athletic power. Walker is much better than most realize. That is a powerful line up that will just keep getting better.

I am all for it. Would be even better if we had picks to continue to develop and work towards it. With Luka and AR age i think they will be more into proving everyone wrong. Plus may not fit JJ style. I agree with everything but this part. Would you consider Walker Better than Zubac?

TBH i dont think Walker is that good but he has great size. Bynum was much more polished had great hands and foot work. A real dump the ball in into the post type of player. More of a Joel than a walker. Walker has a limited offensive bag. A healthy Bynum maybe the best center in the league, This is not the case with Walker. Walker is more Jacob Poeltl than he is a Joel Embid. Walker is not forming any one two punch with an allstar guard. He is not that type of player.

there are two sides to the basketball court, and bynum was not much on one of them.

the early part of kessler's career has already produced basically three seasons that would be the career highlights for jakob poeltl. that's a lazy comparison, as is zubac, whom someone else mentioned. i think i know why they were chosen, but they don't really make any sense.

if anything, he's more like more recent gobert (not the early/mid career monster gobert was) or apex tyson chandler (though stats like kessler better) or just shy of apex marcus camby (denver years).

they're stuck where we were after the russ trade, having to try to hit home runs with vet mins to round out the roster. it's not a great place to be, and no, i don't believe lonnie walker is the answer to their problems.

    100% enjoy ball movement

Breaks down the defense and creates opportunities

Standing at the 3 line all game is lazy offense

we moved luka off the ball some last year, and i thought it worked pretty well, but i think that, like lebron, he just really likes having the ball and that eventually the PPP wins out in both his and the coach's mind. it makes for more boring basketball in some ways, though, admittedly.

hopefully, we get to see him moved around a bit on the floor this year, though. with grimes and sexton both being very capable ballhandlers (in addition to reaves), we'll have more options to start luka on the elbow or in the corners instead of having him with the ball or at half court, harden-style.

Luka lead the nba in usage. He was to play off the ball but he didn't. That's what he was working on in the offseason

i meant us after we traded for russ. denver was silly/desperate enough to sign him after they saw him play here.

that's my point they are a different type centers. Poetl fall in that category just like Walker. which is different to the skill centers. Bynum also played defense. that's like saying Joel doesn't play defense block and alter shots as a superstar mvp caliber big.

I get what you are saying. I have Kessler at 14.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks for next season. But I do feel that there is a possibility that he will take a leap soon.

Luka Factor: Luka is a force multiplier and should get Kessler more easy buckets than he's ever had in his life. I already have that baked into the 14.5 points figure, but I still think there is room for growth. Think of Jalen Duren. He was a 19.5, 10.5, 0.8, and 0.8, and he made 3rd Team All-NBA last season. Cade is an elite passer, so there are parallels with Luka/Kessler.

3-point shooting: If his 3-point shooting is real, depending on the volume, I think he could get into the 15-19.5 ppg range.

Contract: Just the politics of him being the 3rd highest paid on the team might get him more touches than he used to get in Utah.

Health/Work Ethic/Youth: He's still young and, by all accounts, is healthy and has been working very hard this summer.

Not that he has to average significantly more points to get on an all-NBA team. His defense and potential team success speak volumes.

In terms of traditional low-post scorers like Bynum. That was a different era. A great era, but a different era. Walker is more of a modern big. Modern bigs score predominantly at the rim and/or spacing the floor. It sounds like there is a solid chance that he might have both of those in his bag.

What Walker does that Poettl doesn't do? Even Rudy Gobert is in that category. It's their style of play. Style of play and the level of greatness a player reaches is different. Most players flashes great potential and share many similarities to great players but reaching that level is a whole other ballgame. So when I says he is like Zubac I more mean he won't be a star level player and have a similar career path who is solid not a perennial All-Star player.

If you team a healthy prime Austin and Walker Kessler it's worlds apart from teaming a healthy prime Kyrie and Joel.

Kessler is a vertical threat, while Poetl is floor-bound.

Poetl only has a career 285 dunks in 14,469 minutes. This puts him at 0.7 dunks per 36 minutes for his career.

Kessler has a career 394 dunks in only 5090 minutes. This puts him at 2.8 dunks per 36 minutes for his career.
