I gotta disagree, his nba story is quite epic, His 1st run with Cleveland was a huge disappointment because of his youth and cause the Cavs just couldn't build the right team around him. Those playoff loses mirror Jordans early Bulls run pre Phil. Going to Miami was a huge thing cause of the decision and his hometown team really killing him for leaving, then comes Miami and his 1st year disappointment with Dirk destroying their big 3. Finally he gets his ring and then repeats with a one of the all time great playoff series against the Spurs including a great all time game 6 win. Of course failing again and leaving Miami, im sure Pat and Lebron will get into thier falling out. His redemption in Cleveland with another great finals series against am all-time great Warriors team. Then coming to the Lakers and bringing us a ring and finally ending his career in Philly. If he wins a ring in Philly that will be a great way to end the doc. Lets face it, as great as the last dance was, there's a reason, they didn't touch his Wizards run as an epilogue.

Lebron James has had a hell of a career to this point. Regardless of personal opinions on him, this dude is unlike anyone else, that has ever played this game. To be still balling at a high level at 41 years old? That s*** is amazing.

It will be interesting to see how his story ends. Well worth a documentary IMO.

It depends on what the roster looks like on opening night. I'm not sure the oldest/youngest thing is that big of a deal for two reasons. 1. We had the oldest player in the league, so the 7th oldest thing makes sense. However the oldest player in the league, was still one of the best players in the league. 2. Being in the same age range, doesn't make players equal. The Thunder and Spurs are both young, however they are also both stocked with lottery picks and 1st rounders. So it's not as simple as saying that we have a similar aged roster, it's the quality of the talent too.

Then both the Thunder and Spurs are great defensive teams, we are looking at Kessler as the equalizer here in comparison? I don't think that's realistic.

However we should be great on offense, we should be one of the highest scoring teams in the league. It becomes a different story in the playoffs tho. When the game slows down and gets more physical, are we equipped to respond? It depends on how some of these guys develop on that end during the season.

I will say that this roster puts my theory, that in the playoffs, it's better to have players that can still consistently get buckets, against a good defense, over strictly defensive gifted players, to the test.

 

Lebron is an interesting story. Trust me I was there to see it firsthand. I was at a pickup game with Lebron San Diego I literally saw the man clear Jared Sullinger. Like literally jump over him to dunk. I got to watch that on the floor at pickup and hear LeBron say see yall 12 midnight well run again.

I know the guy is insane. But the story is great and yeah this will be the Michael Jordan documentary. His teams were never the bulls.

nothing like that compares to the Kobe Shaq Lakers two leading men Oscar worthy in Los Angeles. None of them saw them as a supporting actor.

Jordan was the guy.

Kobe and Shaq were Co-Alphas of one of the best NBA teams of all time.

 

You’re underselling our defense, Grimes, Ziaire, Thybulle are all good to very good defenders. As is Kessler. Mamu is better than Rui. If we add another 4, they’re probabaly better than regular season Lebron defense.

LeBrons legacy game that I give him credit on is the frown game for Miami against the C Bags. The dunk on Jason Terry. That was peak LeBron. It was a great Jordan performance. Kobe in Indiana when you put your team on your back and win.

Lakers fans have to be patient though. Some of us dont. With 7 new players they have to learn how to play with superstar Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, so we may not get off to a good start. In the end also may not be as good as Spurs OKC. Maybe they end up more on Wolves level. To some people this may seem like a retool vs a rebuild. IMO this is more of a rebuild. Some players may pan out and some wont.

 

Then again we may not "have to" because we may.

 

This is an all new team. Including the coach with no one having championship experience. Not that it matters but thats the case. Austin was never an established respected legit star around the league. His playoff impact is still very much unknown to this point. Walker played 5 games last season no playoff games under his belt and not the all star big men of Lakers History. I think the team has potential but its work in progress. We cant look at it as championship or bust. New team under new management. Dont expect the same level of success Lakers had under The late Jerry Buss. Not the same league and cant build like you use to and the competition expanded.

Hey You do You …. Dad. Typical glass half empty post that you do. Don’t need to be told how to manage my expectations for a Lakers season. Enjoy your angst. I don’t go into it expecting a ring but we are going to have a good team and everything hinges on health for the teams in the hunt. That’s what I worry about. When I’m not enjoying watching a good Lakers team play.

 

I thought Kuminga was the guy that Draymond Green punched, but that was a different guy.

That was affecting my view on him not necessarily.

 

Which is all good. At the end of the day when a season is over opinions and predictions dont matter. The reality always plays out. Every team goes in with goals and expectations but as we all know only one team wins the championship. It always hinge on health for all teams. Lets say all teams are at full health still only 1 team wins. So its not just all on health. Its a combination of a number of things.
