Theoretically that makes sense, but we don't live in the classroom professor. Some cheaters do win in real life, and in every aspect of it. Walter's imprint so far?....Well... it was said that he didn't have any problem with how Jeanie ran things, when he was a part owner. So...

Billionaire slime balls...been a real thing back since, Rockefeller and Vanderbilt almost wrecked the economy over a personal feud.

Just wait until we start playing a few preseason games in Riyadh tho!! That might cause a bit of a stir around here.

Why do we judge people we know nothing about? For instance, Kurt Rambis may be the mastermind behind all of these moves for all that we know.

the real world should also not reward cheating. when it does, the system begins failing...

With what is going on in that exact part of the world, no way in hell should we be sending the Lakers, especially, to play "scheduled" games in Saudi Arabia. See my semi serious "paranoid" comment in Luka's thread about him getting the whole team together out of the country even in Slovenia and having enough armed security around. Riyadh we might be worrying about the missile or drone that gets through.

This is how we hope the system runs, but in reality (from my own anecdotal experience), it doesn't. Very rarely are rules followed and everyone is trying to gain an edge.

There is a reason why so many people feel like this is the end of Rome times...

yes. i think people believe i'm being naive. what i'm saying is that when everyone agrees that cheating is ok, then everyone is screwed. this is why the tacit ballmer support here annoyed me so much.

if you were setting up rules by which to live, these aren't those. i don't have to accept that people will run over me. that's how they do it.

irony is that the people who have ascended to power would undoubtedly lose in the "dog eat dog" world from which they claim to have arisen. b*******. all the way down.

anyway, this is the mark walter thread, and his cash and supposed acumen have done d*** so far.

I would imagine Mark told Rob last summer NO LeBron PO for another year this summer. And there’s the SOTA training equipment and tech coming in. For a couple of obvious impacts going forward.

Where’s the beefed up scouting department ALONG with more basketball minds to help Rob out???
I get it, some think that Rob may somehow get the boot soon and don’t want to be “attached” to him.
This theory doesn’t make sense to me when these new hires would be “Walter” hires and not ones from the old regime. They would be “his guys.”
Like many of us, I just want to see our FO beefed up with some of the “top men,” whether they be in high positions now, or mid tier guys picked for potential to grow.
All we’ve seen so far is the strange decision to launch the G-League squad way out into the dessert along with addition of the Rocket Scientist dude.

I actually think rob booted klutch himself, tbh. I think he sold the new owner on it.

Welp. Maybe Walter isn't as hands on, as it's being assumed? That might explain the rather underwhelming takeover process thus far.

Absolutely. The timeline shows it as he stopped catering to Bron's wishes before Walter arrived.
I don't think people understand how much the 1+1 Bron's contracts hurt your motivation to go all-in on the oldest player in the league and an injury prone star. You go all-in, lose in the playoffs 1st round due to health and your star leaves in FA and you're left dry.

I think Rob played it to perfection by aligning Bron's departure with the last year of ARs deal, netting us Kessler in that summer to kick off the new iteration. I wish people understood how good that move was.

Remains to be seen. The oldest player in the league, was still the 2nd best player on the team, and the only one ready to go in the playoffs. We talking about health and our two young stars, have both had health issues for the last two playoffs?

The Kessler move is debatable too. It was an overpay IMO. Ie..We could have signed Robinson in free agency, keep our draft picks, used them to get Watson while having enough money left to get Kuminga.

The good thing is that Pelinka, no longer has the LeBron excuse , for making mediocre roster decisions moving forward. No..I really don't expect a Luka/Reaves pairing, to somehow be better than the LeBron/AD combo..absolutely not. It could work with a 3rd star..Kessler aint that IMO.
