What’s funny is I’d be fine if we fired Rob if it meant that the doom would slow down but let’s face it, whoever we hire would get a month grace period before it started all of over again. The grass is always greener somewhere else.

IMO we have a certain segment unhappy LeBron isn't back and they are going to moan and groan about everything for some lengthy period of time. That is the only explanation I can come up with for all the sour pusses about every single move Rob makes or doesn't make. People up here complain about the winter being too cold, as soon as summer hits, it is too hot. I typically just tell them to shut up and enjoy what you got. Unfortunately, I can't do that here...lol.

Again, this is getting old and tired. If I missed the warning that you’re only supposed to post here if you’re unrealistically and irrationally optimistic about this team’s chances, while defending every decision Rob makes, even when it doesn’t seem to make any logical sense, just say the word. But I was under the impression that wasn’t the point of the forum.

None of the moves make any logical sense? Again, who did you want instead of who we got that we had in your opinion a "good" chance of pulling off, that would have made sense? Honest question and honestly curious. And you playing the martyr every time someone comments on your more-often-than-not negativity gets old too.

Yeah the assumption that Bronny's getting traded to Lebron's team never held up to me.

Bronny is under contract, so that would just be a terrible look for all parties.

It would prove that we lied when we said we legitimately believed in Bronny's potential and claimed that he wasn't just a nepo draft pick to appease Lebron.

Lebron would look like an overbearing father forcing his son to move across the country to join him.

Bronny would look like a spineless kid who doesn't believe in his own individual basketball career and feels like he needs to stay attached to his dad to be relevant.

See how that can get flipped around?

I don't know all the history between a lot of yall, but you can't just discredit opposing views by simply dismissing them as unrealistic/irrational/illogical.

People are free to think whatever they want. That’s the whole point of a discussion forum. I don’t see why dissenting or negative opinions should be treated as something that needs to be silenced, which seems to be what you’re asking for. Not just once but multiple times, this has been mentioned, like it's a crime to be negative about our chances. You don’t see me complaining every time @Toklat posts that we’re suddenly the best team in the NBA, or close to it, even though I think those takes are ridiculous.

I’ve also answered your question several times. I would’ve brought most of the team back, starting with LeBron, which probably 90% of the forum wanted at the time but now pretends it didn’t, then added another piece through a trade and the MLE. I thought we were a couple of moves away from contending. You may disagree, but that was my position. At this point, though, it’s irrelevant because that path is gone.

I felt exactly the same way and felt we weren't far off and didn't want to lose LeBron. Just make a few changes. Apparently LeBron wasn't good with it knowing how little money would be left and feeling disrespected and all that. It was, I guess like abeer said many times for the front office though in having to just rip the band aid off, starting with no PO last summer. But so here we are instead and seems to me anyway, based on all the months of discussion here on what was needed for a Luka & AR centric team going forward .... that Rob HAS been ticking the boxes off in pretty exemplary fashion, including our last 2 draft picks who definitely seem legit. Not sure what parts of ticking those boxes off, this being the case now with NO LeBron .... makes no sense? It just can't be everyone. That's what I'm referring to.

And @Toklat is @Toklat  .... often with the (I think) tongue-in-cheek enthusiasm. Then again .... yeah sometimes. :giggle:

Toklat is entitled to his opinion even though I strongly disagree with it. I should be entitled to mine without being called a "sour puss".

Why can't we disagree in peace? At the end of the day, I too hope I'm wrong and this team is a contender.

Well there's explaining your "makes no sense" with regard to the off season moves, which IS the purpose of a message board with differing opinions. Why / which moves? If you'd have had your druthers once LBJ was out of the picture, who would you have tried to land over the players he did land, that we had a realistic shot at, and why?

if you really want to know, the move that bothers me the most were the 4 years with POs when no other team seemed to be giving them out in free agency, to guys who were not even starters of their teams. Either we have some new scouting/analytics guys who are geniuses (because recent free agents haven't been exactly great), or these are going to be hard contracts to move if the players don't perform as expected.

I even like the players in a vacuum; I just don't like the contracts.

Since injuries and health IMO are far more worrying issues with far more potential impact negatively or positively every single season …. does it make any sense to dwell on them rather than the actual new roster’s strengths and weaknesses including our last 3 draft picks … Bronny, Adou and Cameron. Can’t wait for camp! But that’s every year. :)

I don’t think this is an answer. Svtzr laid out many plans that involved bringing the boys back—which one is preferable to what happened? Does it involve perhaps some assumptions about lebron’s wishes that weren’t realistic in retrospect?

I’ve said all year that I expected a full reset this summer and was fine with it. I would have found a way to be optimistic with the alternative, but I felt that was unsustainable.

oh s*** it’s the Bronny thread…I don’t know, he’s not that bad nor that good; I’m glad we can now cut or trade him if it helps us. I also can foresee a world in which he’s gp2 2
