Rob and Co just never seem to value defense on the wings on any level. I don't get it. At all. At least go out and sign a couple of solid guys we can bring in off the bench.

 

Exactly. I feel like we are headed for another season of being in the mix but another relatively early playoff exit. Can't imagine Walter and crew will be happy with that every year.

Yeah, and getting Kessler by himself is kind of wasting his ability as a force magnifier. Tier 2/3 defenders like PJ, Kuminga, and Grimes would look like Tier 1 defenders with an elite rim protector and defensive anchor behind them.

 

I'm with that. If it isn't Jared, then do something with Dalton and/or Bronny to create an extra roster spot and improve the end of your roster for a player that can at least eat innings during the reg season that you can develop for the PO's...

 

That would be great and I'd be relieved if we did something like that. Right now our best bests seem to be our summer league guys. I'm actually bullish on several of them, but we can't count on them to step in and help right off the bat.

Kuminga is okay to me if we got him on a good contract but I'm not a big fan either. Agree with the thoughts several others have expressed, @svtzr the most recent I think, that a guy with his natural talent at that position should be in high demand. But he isn't and that is a concern. He's worth a gamble at the right price and could very well turn it around here, but I look at him as very much a project and not a sure thing.

 

I kinda thought maybe Bronny is another reason we aren't moving quickly. Chances of him joining his dad on a new team are high. Maybe we are waiting for the dust to settle on all of that before we do something else. Could very well have more assets to use after that happens as I'd think we would get at least another second for Bronny.

At the end of the day, I'd much rather be paying PJ $22M and Kuminga $15M than paying $30M for our collection of scrubs (Vando + Laravia + Knecht + Hardy)

 

I'm also wondering - are these NBA contracts prorated? Essentially, we moved Jared by the deadline, would it help the other team that we paid half his salary by February? He'd have the remaining part of the year, plus an additional season that's expiring going into next season.

Carr looks good. Adou already seems to be settling down a bit and playing under control which is a great sign. I like Manon a lot as well as Kaluma. We've got some guys we can definitely develop.

Team should be fun to watch and I expect Luka and AR to come out with something to prove.

 

I get what you are saying though. There are not that many lighting quick small guards any more. Still need a mobile point-of-attack defender though. Grimes could handle this role, and he has strength to play up a little bit if needed. But Luka is a big dude, he could handle the small forwards. Reaves is slotted properly guarding the shooting guards. I don't think Mamu is going to start at the 4. He's perfect off the bench alongside Thiero. We probably are going to trade for a power forward or sign somebody for that role. Maybe we just need a placeholder for Kaluma there? With Kessler we are goign to be playing a lot more drop coverage now, so don;t have to worry about if players are switchable or not. We just did thart becasue we had a lot of crappy defenders.

 

Yo, LeBron.......it's time. Make a decision so everyone else can sign where they want to sign and we can move on........
