No to DFS, I was ecstatic every time I’d see him check into the game for Houston

I don’t know who this guy is so I’m assuming this is just an aggregation of speculation, but if we pulled this all off I’d be pretty happy

    Reaves / Sexton / Bronny
    Grimes / Carr
    Kuminga / Williams / Thiero
    Luka / Mamu / LaRavia
    Kessler / Richards

(I’m using Trevor Lane’s approach to slotting in the positions based on likely defensive matchups, hence Luka at 4)

Maybe you have to dump LaRavia too but I’d prefer to keep him as depth. Maybe you end up trading Bronny for a second round pick to help the salary dumps, and replace him with Manon

Then at that point I’d want to fill the last two spots with some veterans who are down to play the Jared Dudley role. Mainly just a locker room presence to provide experience and stability but maybe can fill in for emergency depth.

if we pulled that off, it's an A+ offseason, and it's exactly the three players i want who are still left.

i don't know if we can get kuminga AND ziaire, as i'm not sure williams is going to go for the vet min. teams still have money, and somebody who has more than vet min has to see that he can be useful. i think if we strike out on kuminga, the obvious pivot is to try to move knecht (and possibly bronny) into space and offer williams the 6 million he was going to get this year before his team option was declined.

i do think richards is probably looking at vet mins, though hayes signed for 6 per, so maybe he's holding out, too. we could try to shift hardy around to accommodate a richards acquisition, too.

so, yeah, i think plan A is moving off some combo of knecht/laravia/hardy to get kuminga, and plan B is the same but for williams and richards?

    all three would be wild.

Suddenly Austin at $41.2M seems like a bargain.

Yeah, I don’t know who this guy is, and I haven’t heard Richards linked to us before, but that’s also how it often goes with us. If we landed those 3 guys that would be about as good of a finish to the offseason you could hope for though, would be incredibly happy with that outcome.

I hope Rob protects the Lakers interests for once. Can't be 2 years with a player option or something similar. We need to be able to retain Kuminga, if he actually improves.

    Beggars can’t be choosers.

Our best realistic offer would likely still involve Kuminga taking a paycut, and potentially taking less money than he could get from another team.

If Kuminga says he’s only coming if we give him a player option, you simply have to give him the player option.

If Rob finally heard all the chatter around his excessive player options and decided now was finally the time to take a stand against PO’s, and we lost out on Kuminga because of it… that would NOT be protecting the Lakers interests.

The scenario of having 1 year of Kuminga and he plays his way into a bigger payday elsewhere is still more appealing than 1 year of whatever cheaper backup option we pivot to.

I wonder if this means that right now we’re only offering the smaller contract we could offer by stretching Vando?

If the current offer that Kuminga isn’t enticed enough by already involves us spending our assets to dump significant salary, and his camp is trying to push us to shed even more, that would be worrisome.

Have to imagine his camp is also holding out to see if more money opens up when LeBron finally makes his decision.

But also this story feels like it could be from Kuminga’s camp trying to get leverage for some last details that are being haggled over, but for the most part we’re very close in negotiations and this ends up going down soon. Hopefully.

Kuminga didn't like GSW because it's either him or Draymond,Kerr didn't trust him and a lot of delusional warriors fans didn't like his IQ when he dunked instead of moving the small ball s***
But if he's signing with the Lakers he would be one of favorite in this roster

For better or worse, it really does sound like the plan is Kuminga or bust right now. Hopefully we can get it done. Going into this season without a starting wing is frightening. Of course we also need a backup C unless the plan is for Mamu to fill that slot. Kind of need a big defender though.
