Not sure why we’d do a sign and trade and get nothing…

Looks like Rob blindsided all of last year's team especially the guys that performed in the playoffs.

money wise we could have retained Smart/Kennard/Rui and I suppose Lebron (dont know his new deal) and strengthen that core.

if this new team sucks, everyone, including those who are singing praises of his roster building and excusing his long contracts with player options, will be asking for his head.

feel free to quote me for being right or wrong in 5/6 months.

I think going to the Clippers or C Bags would irk me more with LeBron. I really hope he goes to Cleveland or Minnesota, truthfully.

But during the Decision 1.0, I was rooting for him to go to the Knicks to make them good and fun to watch and that didn't happen....so we'll see if he goes for Home or Fun.

I know "cheering" for Minnesota is a little unorthodox, but I keep saying "I want the Lakers in the Finals every year, but if I can't have that...I just want fun and different teams in the Finals each year." So Minnesota fits that category in this situation/

Again with...."Hey there Miami....we are Milwaukee and are in the East too.....here you go!" "Hey Philly......we are the C Bags and are in the East too......here you go!" "Who are you? The Lakers? Yeah, f*** you. We are in the West too and we want you to DIE! And be irrelevant. AND GIVE UTAH EVERY FRICKEN PICK UNDER THE SUN SO THAT THEY CAN BE GOOD AND YOU CAN BE DIRT."

Remind me how this is fairness again in the NBA?

if lebron goes anywhere but cleveland, i'll find it a bit lame, tbh. i agree with howard beck's piece today, wherein he suggests lebron decided he was going to cleveland a long time ago, and all this is for show. much like his three previous "decisions", all of which were made well in advance and dressed up for dramatic purposes.

If we can't re-direct Hardy in a trade to open up space today I hope we do the waive and stretch Vando thing. Open up space for Kuminga (although he may not actually commit anywhere until LeBron does) and just go into the season with those three seconds and some expiring money.

Kuzma sucks, still the same dumb player, horrible shot selection, lazy defense, except now he's paid a lot more. At least Kuminga has some upside.

    Milwaukee fans hate him.

lol, exactly what i said when the first tweet claimed the lakers "wouldn't cooperate".

yeah, utah didn't "cooperate" with us when we asked to keep our picks in the kessler trade.

    kick rocks, clips.

Yeah. There's no reason for us to do a sign and trade if we aren't getting picks or something.

I think Rui's agent just overplayed his hand a bit and didn't know we had other options in our back pocket.

I'll be honest, I like Rui but I think we upgraded with the move from him to Mamu.

Not too concerned about this one.

Edit - for those concerned about losing Rui's shooting, Mamu is going to be getting much better looks playing off of Luka.

again, i know people thought it was nothing, but rui's agent trying to steer a client away from us in the draft was not nothing, imo.

tbh, felt to me the whole time that the agent thought he had leverage, probably promised rui that he did, and then he didn't, and he's been trying to stick it to us since.

the initial tweet with the framing of us not cooperating was straight up scorned-agent stuff.

all these guys (lebron included) thought they could count on the bird rights trap, but it was clear we weren't going to dlo it again.

Plus, don't discount the Ballmer influence ($$$) on how stories are framed in the media.

It was not worded, "The Lakers were willing to sign and trade Rui to the Clippers, but the Clippers refused to cooperate by refusing to offer even a single 2nd round pick in the proposed deal".

Agreed. The agents were playing the game and their gambles largely failed.

Right. That quote just gets wilder and wilder the more I think about it. There's literally no reason for us to deal if we aren't getting back draft capital.

Clipps probably wanted to dump a bad contract or something on us and we wisely declined.

Jax would have been great. If someone told me we were going to move on from both Ayton and Jax I would have called them crazy.

That’s a shame about Rui IMO. The guy came through in the playoffs and we let him go for nothing. I’m not a fan of that at all.

So what’s this about noon today? Is that the deadline for Rob to miraculously pull off a starting wing defender move and a backup center?

A few days I was arguing they were going to get similar results of the past two seasons. Now I think we will be lucky to be a play in team.

i didn't think hayes would get a 6m per offer, tbh. i thought we'd bring him back on a vet min with a promise to give him a raise next year. pretty disappointed in the lack of hot dog stand there.

Both good and bad. I would have kept Riu over his replacement. On the flip side in today's NBA it's ok to let players walk for nothing depending on what you got to take back. It's all about tiers and staying under them.
