well, we weren't going to bring rui back at mle prices regardless, but yeah, i feel like if we don't have kuminga in pocket, we could be in trouble. the market is pretty bare, and trades are going to get difficult as the season approaches. again, you'll be looking at kuzma types to fill our starting forward spot opposite luka.

I am sure the FO has some kind of a plan here.

If I am Rui I call up Clippers. Get to stay in LA and take in a bigger role. ...... lol I was in the middle of post then boom saw he signed with Clippers. That's a good spot for him.

I haven’t watched much of Kuzma the past several years, but I feel like even the version of Kuzma at the end of his Lakers tenure that we had grown tired of might be a better fit than Rui and Kuminga. I’m not sure if years of stat padding on bad teams have taken away his ability to buy into a role and do the little things though.

Is he available? If Milwaukee was somehow amenable to Vando, Knecht, and 2 second round picks for Kuzma, I think I’d be pretty content with that.

Not sure if it’s been discussed here already but people on Twitter have been talking like if the Hardy trade becomes official today then we can’t aggregate his salary for another 2 months. So if there’s a follow up move involving him, we may need to see it very soon before we officially execute our cap space transactions.

I’m not sure if this is true though or just people on Twitter parroting something they misinterpreted

Rookie vet min deals. Will take more than one offseason to build out. If Austin was an established star maybe it could have been done in 1 year. The reality is we are banking on two players to take on bigger roles. The trio of Luka/Austin/Walker is a new tandem. We not sure how things will go.

So Rui can still end up in Denver.

It's looking like JJ will have to mend relationships with Van as he might be the reserve PF

I’m fine letting Rui walk, the FO just better have other things lined up to make up for it. Like at this point I don’t even see how we can get a better backup C than Hayes, Looney and Jonas are..yikes.

Yeah letting Hayes walk when you already knew you were going to trade Ayton was an odd one. Pretty sure we will get a worse backup.
Valanciunas almost ripped his contract last year because he wanted to go Europe so I'm not sure he's staying in the US.

I won't cry about losing Jax but it looks like another example of not winning in the margins

i think it would be possible. not sure if 2 seconds is enough to eat vando's last year, though they'd be saving money this year.

i think they're right, and that's why i said i was going to be watching the trades become official with a lot of interest today. doors are going to start shutting on things, and the ones that don't give clues to what's happening.

no. once he signs, he can't be traded for a substantial period of time. you can't S&T someone else's player.

if you wanted to keep hayes, one of the other signings couldn't happen.

I’ll be honest, I have no clue what Rob is doing right now. Hopefully the end result is better. But as of today this team has gotten worse.

stein will have to explain to me the path for the clips to get watson via S&T now.

they don't have cap space, even if they renounce mathurin. so they have to move salary. to get watson 25 per to start, they need to move 18ish.

djj/lopez or djj/jackson both make some sense (though why did denver sign bagley if they were going to trade for a backup center). but that only shaves 7 million off denver's books. they'd still be over the second apron even before re-signing spencer jones.

i guess a third team could eat lopez or jackson, and then it makes some sense, becomes watson for djj (and probably a 1st?).
