Yeah, it makes sense. Luka did ask for three-point shooters to help him with double teams. This team has much better horizontal and vertical spacing. Sexton, Grimes, Mamu, and Carr are very aggressive three-point shooters, with each averaging 6 or more 3-pt fg attempts per 36 minutes, while Lebron,Rui and Kennard were hesitant, didnt even reach 5. Smart was the only rotation player that averaged 6 or more 3 point-fg attempts per 36 minutes with 6.0. It's not just where they shoot, but how they shoot. The players we got are able to easily catch and shoot and let it fly. The players from last year were frustrating with this, we know this. Kennard would not shoot if he wasn't open. Lebron had an off year from three last season and prefered the mid-range and at the rim. Rui is well-known as a methodical mid-range guy, although his 3-pt shooting volume and catch and shoot in general has improved. Smart was agressive but the accuracy was below average.

The newly aquired players have shown a lot more efficient shooting than the players we had last season. More points per shot ateempt. There's a reason the mid-range shot is a lost art. This probably has Redick/Luka's preferences and the Romadas analytical mindset's fingerprints on it. You need the right players to maximize Luka offenively to help maximize those players as well. Luka creartes more horizontal and vertical space than anybody in the league by far.

Yeah this annoyed me all season. Kennard just isn't very aggressive unless he's forced to be your main ballhandler due to injuries. That's why I really didn't care about bringing him back. Rui won't shoot a three unless he's wide open because his shooting motion is kind of slow. Lebron hates shooting spot-up threes.

I don't know if Pelinka was thinking like a casual fan or what, possibly thinking that 3-pt shooting was best determined by accuracy or what? It seems maybe he needed some help from the analytics department to emphasize volume-three point shooting and catch-and-shoot ability/quick releases, etc.? Idk. A lot of folks on this board have also downplayed horizontal (Volume three-pt shooting) and vertical spacing (Lob-catching).

You can still be a good offense without being near the top of three point attempts. Denver has routinely been in the bottom half of the league in attempts and are near the top in offensive efficiency, points per possession, whatever every year. But I feel like we generated decent looks that guys just wouldn't take.

That's an outlier though man. We have an analytical coach and the ultimate force multiplier in Luka in terms of kicking it out to shooters. I highly doubt they would be satisfied with a crappy shooting team.

Are they going to keep him? When do they usually start releasing and waiving people again? I forget.

Also, can someone explain to me how Tatum, PG, and Robinson make you better than what you had last season? I am still super confused.

    20 is nuts.

I wish we’d use guys we weren’t keeping to get draft picks though.

I’m not nearly as down on Bronny as most but I’d definitely reach out to any team that gets LeBron and try to grab at least a couple of seconds.

interesting thing is as that I think Bronny would probably prefer to stay here and be out from under his old man.

.......Good for him. That's nice......anyways, about those 20 Second Rounders...............

Really, I get him wanting to develop on his own, and if he stays.....so be it. I just feel like, we might as well try and trade him to somewhere, whether it's where Daddy goes or not. Maybe it's another piece to try and convince Bron to sign with them, or maybe they cut him and he goes and signs with his Dad anyways.

Rui or Kuminga WILL BE more helpful in the long run than keeping Bronny. So, "It's just business."

I would agree and if he and the family are serious, the tag along should stop here. This first was understandable and the kid has shown no entitlement, kept his head down and worked hard. But if he follows his dad to next location it's a poor narrative and career choice and he'll always be viewed that way.

A little nervous about this. This opens up some room for us to bring in a forward and we get a couple of seconds, but I liked Ayton as the backup. Shams mentioned Drummond, Valanciunas and Looney as backup options in his tweet and I don't like any of them. I guess Drummond could be okay.
