JJ is a good coach IMO but if I was on walter's team, I would show him film of Rose's knee injury (thanks Thibs!) and the Cavs dropping game 1 against the Celts with Atkinson stating he wanted to save his TO's. Fix those two things and I think JJ has a chance to be an elite coach. He gets buyin from his players, his defense he concocted all high level stuff from him
We have now been shown another example of how an average coach can win with the right players and chemistry coming together at the right time. JJ has some growing to do for sure but with the right collection of players he could lead us to a championship. Unhealthy players having an unusually healthy year and a couple of unexpected players stepping up it can happen. That is why each year there is always hope.
I agree here, we do not have the best coaching staff, can’t see why with Walter’s money we can’t look to upgrade
I think Reddick is good and improving, but the staff around him is mediocre at best. That’s yet another area I can’t believe we aren’t upgrading with Walter’s money.
I thought he surrounded himself with basketball sickos. Feels to me like they’ve done pretty well overall.
Now we will see what JJ has. I'm expecting to see amazing things. He won't sleep for the next month, gears will be grinding 24/7.
Where do you see them being underwhelming? Last years growth was evident. We had an amazing season. Our big 3 had like 8 games together until March. Then we go on that run. Were set to finish 3rd comfortably. We finish +50 wins with multiple injuries from each of the main guys, all with a flawed roster. Then the playoffs were great as we know, considering the circumstances. I think our coaching staff has shown good things. You can see a plan on both sides of the floor, some creativity there to try different things and kinda make it work. Last year's roster was really flawed, people forget
he's going to have a challenge in front of him defensively. i'm eager to see how he does free from lebron. could go either way. he could find ways to deal with mistakes and find growth, or we could find out he was leaning heavily on lebron's leadership on and off the floor. but it's his team now, kind of for the first time.
He really has his work cut out for him Time for him to show what he's made of No excuses now that LBJ is not here to influence him
