I strongly encourage everyone to read the quote above, as it accurately describes the situation we’re in. We’ve managed to rebuild the team relatively swiftly. Luka and Austin have been entrusted with the team’s leadership, and the chemistry between them is expected to be exceptional. If Luka can elevate Gafford’s performance like he did in Dallas, Kessler is guaranteed to have an explosive season next year.

I understand that some posters may be expressing negativity here, as a true rebuild can be stressful. I get that. However, I assure you that you’ll come to love this team once you witness the seamless fit and the camaraderie that will develop next season. Book it.

I don’t know where those come from .. he’s usually such a laid back kind of guy and now in our “possible” and alledged “darker” hours a shining beacon in the night. Sheeeooot!!

I know it sounds crazy Weezy, but the archetype of Carr and Adou (once fully developed) is exactly what the lakers need to balance the roster:

    Luka
    Reaves
Carr (knock down shooter / slasher / lob threat / transition threat / 1-3 POA defender)
Adou (1-5 switchable defender / lob threat / transition threat / slasher)
    Kessler

That’s the exact archetypes you would put around Luka and Reaves. The problem is one is a rookie and one is a second round pick. If they develop right, they’re perfect fits and extremely athletic.

Let’s hear from the Big Dog … where’s OX?? Just the new players themselves brought in … so far. Not about the money or picks or should have dones with their signings. Including Thiero and Carr potential to help at least some not insignificant amount this year if Walter makes sure they have top development people around this team.

I just don’t think we have time for that, Luka’s time is now, I don’t think his body is going to hold up in prime form as long as some others do, and more importantly he can walk in 2028 if he’s not happy with the roster. JJ also doesn’t really play rookies, at least not without a super short leash, and even above that it’s a lot to ask of a rookie to come in and contribute meaningful minutes for a team with title aspirations every season. If they develop it’s great, of course, but Adou could not get that knee to stay healthy last year, and Carr is a skinny rookie, it’s a huge if, they’ll need time most likely, time we don’t have.

It’s so interesting to me that we can all watch the same thing but see it in such different ways. That’s kind of the beauty of life.

To me, we objectively got worse, lost leaders and tone setters, have more holes, less experience and have parts that don’t fit that well. But, I can see the rational arguments from the optimists and those that are even euphoric of the steps we’ve taken.

I’m happy to see it. Had we kept Kleber, maybe I too, would be optimistic. Now I just have to cheer on Adou Anunonby and Carr McDaniels as they carry the rest of this sorry a** roster to a chip.

Basketball is simple. You gotta love each other. It’s chemistry. If one guy is seen as better then everybody it doesn’t work. Look at the Knicks. Even Kobe and Shaq Michael and the Bulls. The leadership is right. Rodman couldn’t be Rodman with David Robinson but he could be Rodman with Jordan.

Kobe’s Lakers with Gasol. Kobe and Gasol were seamless.

Reaves and Luka like each other. Kessler likes them. It’s a team. There’s a culture we’re building a culture. Then you see the young guys buy in and get that like Carr and Thiero and Bronny and Grimes. It’s a collective buy in.

Lebron bought in but it was still a Dad vibe and his kids well literally lol. Even the comments with OKC after the series. They out talented us. Lebron seemed out of touch.

This is a young man’s league. The Lakers had to get younger today they did. Today this is Luka’s team. Our Lakers captains Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

just like it was Magics team. And Jerry’s team. And Kobe’s team. And Lebrons team. And Shaqs team.

I think Rob saw OKC and saw a culture Mark saw it.

Lakers fans you all have to adopt NO we can’t just trade for the superstar and get rid of the kids. This is the culture,

Remember Russell and Randle and Ingram and Hart and Kuzma? LeBron said get rid of them. And all yall were what if???
well here it is again. This is the new culture and I’m here for it. This is our OKC. just get your popcorn and enjoy.

Thiero Luka Cam Carr Austin Reaves Kessler Grimes Knect Bronny Mamu Sexton Ayton

One team one goal. Chris Haynes said we had our LeBron replacement. Well we know what his name is now Walker Kessler.

I stumbled into CL in 2005 … never forget it. Was just searching on line to try and find news about Kwame Brown possibly coming to the Lakers. Didn’t know places like that existed. Culture shock too with first time seeing players called “garbage”. :D

I used to spend more time reading at Lakerground, but the site was super outdated and it seemed closed minded. I think I was ScottyD over there, but can’t remember.

I guess going through some personal hardship had me looking to connect with fellow fans more. I got laid up for awhile, and this place is full of lively opinions haha - definitely helping pass the time between rehab sessions.

I came across club lakers in 2010. When we lost to Dallas and Bynum close lined Barrea.

I lurked until the move to Lakersball. I actually remember it was the signings of Deng and Mozgov that made me make an account to voice my displeasure.

I know I’ve been quite negative today. But this is nowhere close to that dark day. To balance out some of my negativity:

Kessler gives you most of the defence we lost with AD and Carr is probably going to be better than Christie in a year. In a way it’s like we made the Luka trade but Lebron for Luka.

We just added 2 two way players to our bench. Grimes is a real creator and defender. Sandro is an all around better player than Rui - rebounds, defends and shoots.

On top of that Sexton is a 20 point scorer off the bench and Ayton is the best backup we’ve had at center since Dwight. Jake is a decent 10th man. We could have the best bench in the league.

Adou is an archetype we haven’t had but have wanted for ever and he is legitimately one of the most athletic guys in the league. At the minimum he should be a good lob threat and defender. Carr should be a really good wing that can shoot, cut and defend.

We probably need one really good wing defender to bridge the gaps with the young guys. And we need to trade Vando and Knecht. There is nothing positive about not having any assets left, but we should have the MLE and BAE to improve next year.

Yes, lots to be pumped about with this young roster all the way to our Gleague team. Some great prospects. Feels to me like we just created a version of the OKC model without the full tear down.

and some of our expertly drafted Young talent comes of age, we will flip them for future draft picks, and be equipped for the future quite well with other players, sitting in the wings, ready to take on their roles with low-level contracts.

he might not like all of the moves, but I feel like there is a definite method to the madness

Looks like Tony Bennett may have found us some late potential players in this draft for the future. Athletes and defenders.

So you have no faith in a Luka Austin lead team with a big ole center?

It's the NBA dude..only 3 teams have won a championship with only 1 All-Star player. Everybody needs help. Austin is my boy no doubt; however I still consider him a high level 3rd option. I was hoping to get some clarity on that subject this postseason, but injuries happen.
