Yeah, but sounds like they really leaned into the JJ Redick dribble/pass/shoot thing.

I’m not satisfied but I can be with a trade for a wing. Package your expiring’s for someone a team is looking to get off of. Trying to patch it together with a vet min wing never works.

i mean, kennard can definitely do those things, lol, and he's not much worse defensively than sexton.

edit: whoops, i lied. sexton is just as bad as kennard on defense, but actually grades out substantially better on offense.

This is my thought. Find some guy on a deal their team wants to get out from under and bring him in.

Yeah, but you could at least put Sexton on the speedy point-guards. Kennard can't keep up with those guys.

Last season per 36 minutes, Sexton averaged 22.8 pts, 3.5 rbs, 5.0 ast, 1.7 stls and 2.5/6.2 threes at 40.1%. He quietly had a strong season, albeit on bad teams. His DBPM was -0.5, but career -2.0 is very bad. He drastically improved his defense last season, don't know how real it is, but at the room exception for 2 years, it's solid value.

We got a good starting center, and Rob built a decent bench.
We now have three actual starters who should be there and two who are really bench level talent.
    Just being real.

I'm really into the stretch Vando, try to bring in Kuminga idea. If we had Kuminga on a prove-it deal as our starting 4, with Mamu backing up the 4 and playing small-ball 5, I feel a lot better about this.

Yeah, in that regard it's a multi transaction cycle build.

We struggled with bench production mightily. Now we’re better at it.

The problem with Kuminga is he’s definitely here one year and then gone

I agree with most, Luka asked for an A list center and so that became the number one thing. I would have preferred Duren but we know Detroit said they would match. Kessler was the next best player and some would say the better player overall. Good get and good salary. Rough that we had to get fleeced on picks.

The rest of the signings are disappointing to me. We now have no shooters AND no defenders. We look like a 6th place kind of team in the West to me at best. More like a play in team if any of the big three Luka AR Kessler miss time with injuries.

    Rob needs to go.

Yeah, it very well could be.

Huge plus that Kessler's AAV is only 32.5 million. But, it is still practically a three max contract build, which isn't ideal. Grimes might be better slotted in the Reaves role, while another player is the point-of-attack defender. But again, Kessler's rim-protection does greatly reduce the need for perimter defense. But it is still needed, just not with sacrificing shooting.

The bar here is at least outside shot at contender. This roster is not that, so it’s a failure to me. I don’t really think we need to see it play together to know that, you can see that based on player talent alone. We just presumably added 2 bench players from other mediocre teams as starters here, I’m really not sure by what logic that makes us better overall, it’s a lateral move at best, when we really needed to up our talent level at these positions. We’re also betting a TON on a 2nd year player whose game is athleticism with knee issues, and a rookie guard.

As far as Kessler, he’s a good player, but as I’ve said multiple times, I’m not sure he’s the player we seem to think he is based on what we gave up for him. He’s not an all-star, he’s never played a playoff game in his career, he’s huge, which is great, but it also means he’s not particularly quick, and can be played off the floor in certain scenarios. He’s good because he was the best C available, but let’s slow down here, we have no idea if he’s truly an elite center yet, and we kind of paid like he is. That we couldn’t even get Utah to take back ONE contract in the deal is crazy to me.

The signings give Adou a chance to show what he can do. This is huge and overlooked by many. The guy is an absolute monster. I believe he will take a starting position, he is just too good not to. I seem to remember us drafting another young dynamo as well.
