Cavs want to trade Strus and Schroder. Give him a 3rd chance? :D:p

I can’t believe Kawhi can still fetch a package like that after all the time he’s missed with injury. I also can’t believe the Clippers have faced no punishment for cap circumvention and instead get assets for Kawhi.

He may be part of the backup plan.

If we strike out on the RFA we can 1) do another RFA for another guy or 2) be a great destination for salary dump.

Option 2 is not awesome but it's an option nonetheless that can give us assets for the future. We definitely lose at least a year though

Warming up to Kuminga. He makes a lot of sense from a PR perspective. He's a nice buffer if we fail the offseason as you can sell him as a high ceiling guy. Totally see Rob doing that.
From a basketball perspective, if we are losing Bron/Rui, he is a great young athletic wing that gives us a scoring punch, which we are losing a lot losing those 2 guys

Fitting that LeBron and Kawhi leave LA on the same day. We were supposed to get an actual LA rivalry centered on those two, but for a bunch of reasons it never materialized.

Zion and Myles Turner. Both probably available.

Clippers are getting a lot in return. They got a lot in the Zubac trade and if the Leonard trade goes through, they are getting even more. Toronto shouldn't give that many picks. Kawhi only wants to sign an extension in Toronto. Toronto should have some leverage.

Quickley/Barrett/Kawhi/Barnes/Poeltl with Murray-Boyles off the bench is a pretty good team. East actually looks tough next year.

They kept Barrett that they wanted. They send the worst starter for a guy that will be their best player. It's smart business and a good gamble by them

Lebron was done with Lakers since last season. If you looked at his body language and listened to his agent it was clear. When LeBron lead the team in playoff and gave Austin the max that confirmed it even more. LeBron will look at that as a slap in the face. On top of that I don't think lakers wanted LeBron back. I think they were very obvious since last offseason when they did not offer an extension but oddly JJ got one. It was up to him to read the room and I think he read it correctly. Lebron and Lakers again this season was just going to an odd fit. This break up was long overdue. I don't think this on Rob. I think the next owner wants to start fresh with Luka and JJ. He was in constant contact with Luka not Lebron.

They can take Van and Dalton. Lakers can use a backup pg and a shooter to replace Luke

Figure Dalton and Bronny and a 2nd or something might work somehow.

mamu the rui replacement, grimes the smart replacement (different, but 30mpg starting guard), that would leave us still with the same center rotation we apparently hated and no lebron.

Why not use Dalton like Redick used Kennard? They play the same amount of D. I say give Dalton a chance and use the money we would have offered Luke to a defensive guard or wing.

I like the idea of Grimes off the bench if we can find a cheap guard that can guard the ball, like an Ellis or a Melton, to play as a nominal starter.

well, because luke was always in the right place on both ends, whereas dalton was basically never in the right place. if dalton had luke's hoop iq, he'd be signing a large extension right now.

i think grimes can guard POA, actually. he's not lightning quick, but he can make up for it with length and anticipation. that said, by the metrics his defense has slipped over time, so maybe i'm remembering a guy that no longer exists. i've barely watched him the past year.

I think the Mark Williams trade that didn't go through messed him up mentally.
