I'm expecting something like the 2019 offseason where we wait for resolution of a big move and if it doesn't work out for us Rob quickly signs a few lower-level guys.

you think garland/wagler/mathurin is a good core? i don't at all. i'm curious to see which players are coming back from toronto for leonard. if they get quickley and barrett, they'd need to flip quickley, i'd think. i don't love barrett or ingram's fit with mathurin on the wing, either.

they've been in lots of rumors acting like a cap space team, too, right? including the shifting of bogdanovic's option date...

I like RWIII over Robinson. They both are an health concern. They both are good defensively and a lob threat. RWII has a better outside shot. If left open he can make the 3.

Kessler should be the play the pistons will 100% match any offer. I just think the have more flexibility and he’s only 22. RFA sucks we might just be screwed.

So word is Smart's contract with the Rockets will be something like 3 years / $21 million. I think it's becoming clear what the Plan A is. Bring in one of the RFA centers if you can, if not bring in Rob Williams or Mitchell Robinson in a timeshare. But we're going younger and fresh, a hard reset from the previous era. No LeBron, no Smart, no Rui, probably no Kennard either. I'd still keep an eye on Peyton Watson. The fact that we're hearing absolutely nothing about him compared to the center RFAs makes me a bit suspicious.

I mean....do we really think the league is going to punish the Clippers when they are just happy we didn't get Paul George all those years ago, or Kawhi, or CP3?

The league will look the other way, just like apparently you conveniently win the Draft Lottery, after trading your star away to the Lakers.....so it all comes out in a wash.

Can we steal Bogdonovic this time? That would be nice.

I feel like we could beat $7 mil a year. Also Kennard feels like an easy Vet Min re-sign too.

Also, I think LeBron comes back unless he finally retires. Warriors sound great, but we can get Love to LA and convince him to come back easier than they can get AD from Washington.......

    So, we'll wait and see.

I think we can, but the FO jisn't interested in doing so. I don't think they're interested in a multi-year commitment to Smart. Kennard on a vet min maybe, but anything more than that I don't think they're interested in any significant commitment to him either. And I think they probably told LeBron last summer that he's not a priority. If they can snag a Kessler or a Duren, I'm not sure they'd even want to give him the MLE. If we strike out, sure he can come back for a farewell tour in another stop-gap year. I think they want to establish a new core that will be the group going forward for the next three-ish years.

I definitely don’t want to overpay Kessler or Duren, but I’d be good with it over a sign and trade, that’s my fear right now. To overpay AND send out firsts, we’d be giving all our assets and cap space in one move, leaving nothing to use to add at least one defensive wing.

I liked Kennard. I think he will be a different player after getting exposed in the playoffs. That guys has skills. He's a baller. Might need to shave his head though.

if the trade allows us to offload salary and/or bring in another piece (either via new space created or the trade itself), i'm ok moving the picks.

i said i wanted two long-term starters to add to luka and reaves this summer. you can use everything to get that, imo. other teams are showing us that you can still operate after you've emptied the cupboards. hell, they're running circles around us!

lol, i figured they'd lock him up and was confused by the reports they wouldn't. i just thought it would be over the mle, where this is a bit under. 3 years, though. iffy with his health.

    There goes Williams.

Would have been a good backup plan to Duren/Kessler
