Two bigs that I don't get the love affair with are Duren and Robinson. Duren was BAD in the playoffs, and Robinson is an injury prone, poor shooting center who is about 5 years removed from being the rim running lob threat Luka fans romanticize about. To be fair, he is an excellent offensive rebounder though.

 

Duren is 22 and has plenty room to grow into becoming a better playoff performer. He had a great regular season.19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
He was an All Star and was selected Third Team All NBA.
I’m not super hyped about either RFA choice we are trying to land, but this is where we’re at.

If we don’t get Duran. Then we have Ayton for one season. Bring in Robert Williams bring back Lebron bring in Zaire Williams. And everybody 1 year deals. And sign Rui. I can get with that.

Luka is supposed to close free agents. And he is supposed to get Jokic next year so maybe that’s what that means. We don’t get our money tied up in a Duren or Kessler and have a shot at Jokic. We shall see.

 

This is the exact offseason I’m hoping for. I’m not interested in a ridiculous overpay for centers who are only slightly better than Ayton. I’d like to see Vando and DK moved on for depth because it’s obvious JJ doesn’t like them. Do these things and I’m an extremely happy camper.

This new CBA jsut punishes you. If we round out our team, we’ll be somewhere around the first apron. If one of our young guys blow up, other teams will force us through RFA to pay them.

Then you’re making all kinds of tough decisions like who do you dump.

Man I really hope we aren’t planning on maxing out Duren especially with how awful he was in the playoffs. But knowing Pelinka that’s probably what he’s going to do.
