Considering our options, would you give them one of our other firsts for him?
I would, based on how well he and Luka worked previously and how you already know I feel about Ayton.

There just has to be a plan i refuse to believe he will just take that big of a risk with Luka on the roster. And it pretty much sounds like Rui will be signing a contract with another team as soon as FA opens. I can’t imagine them going hard for a bunch of RFA’s and then also not being able to bring their own guys back. I mean there will be pitchforks all over the place if that happens and Luka included.

no way luka didn't know about the plan. lebron, too. whether it is a good plan remains to be seen.

i think the obvious thing is that rui was going to walk. i think even if we strike out on all the FAs, we could still possibly bring a lot of the team back. just not rui.

terrible timing with his playoff play, but i tend to agree that he's not a foundation piece. he's a finishing piece. we're not in that position.

Remember not too long ago when everyone complained about us not having enough shooting?
I get it- we can’t significantly improve without losing some of our players.
Now, adding Shamet, and maybe another piece on the bench who can score could help to ease the pain.

You mean I can kick the can down the road again only to greatly disappoint everyone next year too?

I’m becoming increasingly worried haha. I think the “Nuggets would balk at 30+ mil for Watson” is a good way to get other teams to waste their time on an offer sheet. I’m also worried about having to offer Kessler or Duren 40+ mil to pry them away, that leaves very little left for depth going forward.

Other than those options I’m not seeing what we do though, Robinson plays 14 mins per game, he can’t be our guy. Same for Rob Williams, just a solid backup and will cost assets we don’t have because we don’t have ANY 2nd rounders. If Ayton opts in do we keep him as a backup or try to move him? I fear we’re going to panic and end up with Myles Turner, and hoo boy.. If we do I wonder if we could do what Jovan casually tossed out on the show with Pete and Trevor, get a first rounder and have them take Vando for us taking on that awful contract. Would at least give us another pick to work with to add more players.

I just don’t see a realistic path at this time to get better, we screwed ourselves refusing to take on any contracts past this offseason, so instead of having potentially decent players and 2nd rounders for taking on longer contracts other teams wanted off of to offer in trades we have scraps nobody wants. Our FO lacks creativity so badly, like this is how every offseason has gone for us so far, being like “I refuse to believe this is the plan, Rob has to have better up his sleeve”, but he really doesn’t. To me the possibility of Luka walking in a couple seasons doesn’t look crazy if things keep going this way.

I didn’t even mention what happens with Bron, and yeah I’m ready to move on, but you’re not replacing his production with a minimum guy or room exception guy, MLE guy, so.. yeah. Rob has painted himself into a corner, I’d be worried about better GMs in this situation, and Rob is mediocre at best so again, my concern level is rising.

I don't think anyone is going to risk an offer-sheet. If we aquire Watson, it would likely be via sign-and-trade.

I think if the Nuggets would trade with us(which I don’t think they will), it will be for Gordon so they can keep Watson.

Last time I read, RFA offers were only active on July 6. I'll do some research tomorrow and bring it here

On the bright side the last time we waited out we won a title. {waiting on Kawhi) To be honest i hope they can work out a sign and trade with Lebron to Cavs or Miami. It not weak. The two star build had more success than 3 stars. The balance makes it easier. Again i understand Lebron Talent but my take in this case less may be better. An example where Less can be better. Kyrie had his way of winning but it did not line up with Tatum and Brown. Replacing that piece was better in that case with a more defensive player. This also give Brown Tatum full control. So yes you cant replace Lebron talent but do you really need to?

That was the shortest long career ever. Many years, and only a handful of games played. Too bad, the kid was a great defender when healthy.
