http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nba/1137/danny-granger Apparently, Granger has 'significant health problems.' .
Josh hasn't really played in a while and he's what... in his mid-thirties? If he was his old self, then yes, a defensive SF. We can always use one of those.
Josh stopped being an NBA caliber player like 4 years before he left the NBA last time. Now?... Yeesh... I like Earl. I bet he's leaving because he knows he'll buried on the bench, but he's honestly just not that good. Where will he end up? That's too bad about Granger, but I think we all knew that too. He was reported as having holes in his cartilage in his knees 2-3 years ago...
Solid pickup for Phil, but we have more pressing needs if we clear a spot(s) -- SF, PG. Unless Scott is wanting to get very creative, he's not qualified to play either of those positions.
No way. I didn't like when he was on the team. He showed some flashes but then the Wesley Johnson inconsistency started Not good..
We really don't need anyone at this point. Is the small forward slot a little light? Maybe. But if Kobe goes down the season is going down the toilet anyway. Kobe/Young/Brown with spot minutes from Nance is plenty at sf. The only question is whether or not we dump Sacre or Kelly to make room for Upshaw.
A little light?! Maybe based on the last 2 years. Based on the NBA average for the SF position we're feather light. Kobe playing SF isn't where I see him most of the time. I'm sure he will be switching up on defense to the lesser of the SF/SG on the opposing teams. The SF position is very key to a motion offense and we are, and have been, in need of a solution there for a while.
Kobe is the least of our worries. PG and PF could have starters that have yet to play a full NBA game. SG will be a 2nd year player. Kobe and Hibbert are the closest things to sure things in our starting lineup.
My guess is that he will be at the SF position about half the time or less. Whether or not he's there doesn't change that we still don't have a SF on the roster. We have one of the best 2 guards to ever play in his last season at the SF position. I responded to the though that the SF position wasn't a worry. I'm not sure we have a traditional SF on the roster who's proven they can play at this level. It's the weakest position on the team. I'm hoping we can turn Young into a serviceable option there.
Not to jinx anything, but I think we're fine at PF. If Randle isn't ready, Bass played all 82 games the last 2 seasons, started most of them 2 seasons ago, and more than half last season.
And Lou Williams by size, is a PG. He's capable of playing facilitator as well. He averaged around 4apg in around 20 mpg one season off the bench. Pretty solid.
