I get it people want to jump on the feel good story train and ride around feeling good island.Im going to stay rooted in the reality of what the NBA is ….a business
So now if someone isn't a top 5 player, they're interchangeable and glorified role players? This is going to be a long month and a half until free agency starts.
the real concern is next year, any time reaves has a bad game (like all good players do...). this place will be unbearable.
This is what this organization is about; it's win or bust every year. If you don't agree with this, you're probably supporting the wrong team
I think the essence of a forum is people expressing different viewpoints. Why would it be unbearable to you, having people disagree with you? This is not supposed to be a big circle jerk, is it? I don't particularly understand why keeping Reaves and paying him the max appears to be more important for some of you than winning, but I respect that I also don't understand why some of you seem to be extra salty just because some people are willing to float the idea of trading Reaves to make the team better, or question if we should be giving him the max. Those concerns seem extremely valid if the goal is the Lakers winning NOT necessarily winning WITH Reaves. of course if the goal is what @LTLakerFan suggested of being good in the regular season, and being content with not winning, then sure have at it.
Stop mansplaining me and misquoting me. I’ve been a fan longer than you I’m sure. The problem here seriously is you guys with Reaves telling us if he’s on the team, as decided by the fairly brilliant new owner Mark Walter, at whatever price HE decides is fair and /or needed …. that it’s a Fact we’ll never win a title, and we’re wrong. You’re right it’s all about opinions, and it’s you guys that can’t wait to at least see what the new ownership does …. with all your Reaves doom and gloom. Mix in an IMO and it makes it a lot more palatable instead of your claimed immutable truths.
I like Reaves, and I seriously hope I'm wrong and that we can win with him and Luka. You don't have to throw a fit, and start d***-measuring on who's the bigger fan, just because me and others think differently.
You're the one with the fan crack telling me I'm supporting the wrong team. Pot meet kettle. That was supposed to be "fansplaining" and got (mis)corrected
I trust you’re not putting me in the “never win a title” because I’ve made clear they can under certain parameters.
I'm just trying to convey that this group of 4 or 5 that say we can't win with Reaves as a #2 (according to you actually no such thing, they're all just role players anyway, aside from like 5 or 6 in the league) at whatever price Walter is going to allow it to get done, is some absolute fact .... when you or I or anyone else have NO idea the other moves they're going to make. Most of the time as etched in stone facts when they're just opinions, really for Your preference, which means Jack to the professionals in the Lakers organization going forward. I'm not the one saying we're "going to win" a ring or more with AR. As always I greatly hope we do, but with the crap shoot of health every year, nothing is guaranteed, and we don't know yet the other moves to be made. I'm also just expecting you guys to bit** to no end next year and going forward every chance you get about Reaves and how unhappy you are. If that's the case it's going to suck around here. I hope it's not.
Again, who has a problem trading Reaves for the right pieces? I would trade him in a millisecond a Top 10 player, or a projected Top 10 player (Chet, Harper, Knueppel) I would have to consider fit and other factors for a Top 20 player. (ie Durant - too old, - Brunson and Haliburton - takes ball from Luka, etc etc) I would think longer if it is a Top 30 (Yes to Adebayo, Triple J or Mobley, No to Harden or Trae) It's probably a harder sell Top 40 player + fillers (Herro, Sengun, etc) Most of the trades in this thread suggest trading Reaves for a Top 50-70 type player. Some of you are desperate to sell fast and low on Reaves, which makes no sense. And if we think he's worth more, we are suddenly a Reaves nut-hugger and care more about keeping him than winning? Why don't you get off your high horse and contribute to this thread by suggesting good trades, instead of making passive-aggressive and condescending comments about other members? AR is a UFA so he'd have to agree to a S&T if we want to trade him this summer, which is highly unlikely. Realistically we can revisit a Reaves trade before the 2027 trade deadline.
