This has been discussed. I think so. If you look at where Reaves has taken his game. He’s the same player as Luka ball handler playmaker. Not nearly the shooter but he can score. He plays iso and is ball dominant.

You still have Hachimura and Ayton plays the Dwight Howard role. AD didn’t want to play center anyway. So yes the team is way more balanced.

Some folks were in a rush to declare Reaves our new 2nd best player after those big games he had when Luka was out at the beginning of the season and LeBron started slow after coming back from the sciatica, but yeah LeBron is still pretty clearly a better basketball player. After a slow start to the season he rounded into form and his advanced stats ended up better than Austin's. It's time to put the "we just need defenders around Luka and Austin" idea to bed, we need to bring LeBron back and also added a role player or two, or if LeBron is gone find another 2b guy that can step into the #2 role in these bad Austin matchups.

 

We’re gonna get one of these games. You gotta expect Austin Reaves to play better.

Question, Lebron, Davis, Luka. If all 3 played 1st round exit team? You really cant say he is the same player as Luka. I think their games are different. I do think Lakers would have been better with a healthy smart/Max/Lebron/Davis/Ayton and Austin in a 6th man role. May have made another trip to the finals.

This team is done with Lebron. Just get younger and more Athletic, Sign Austin to a good contract with the intentions of trading at the trade deadline.

Players playing themselves into a bigger/new contract:

• Lebron: playing like a top 15 player these playoffs
• Smart: playing like a top 10 defensive player
• Ayton: playing like a top 10 enter
• Rui: playoff riser and one of the best shooters in the league

Players playing themselves into getting cut or a lower contract:

• LaRavia: thankfully he is on only 6m and has another year to develop
• Kennard: bad since game 3 of round 1
• Reaves: needs to show something this series or he'll get the playoff choker tag
