Operating under the cap and keeping Reaves and Hayes cap holds would allow you to pay LeBron 20M, Rui 15M, Smart 14.2M, and then have the Room Exception available for Kennard or another free agent like Keon Ellis. Operating over the cap and keeping Reaves and Hayes cap holds would allow you to keep Lebron at 20M, Rui at 15M, and Smart at 14.2M (Most of the Room-Exception). It also allows you to keep Kennard a raise up to 13.2 million if needed, but doesn't allow any outside free agents.

The benefits of operating under the cap are:

    (1) Essentially hard-capped at about 222.4 million for under the cap instead of 209.4 million for under the cap. Gives you an additional 12.9 million in salary allowed.

    (2) You could use the Room Exception to sign either Kennard or a different free agent. Gives you options, other than possibly over-paying Kennard.

    (3) The salary cap room gives Lebron and Rui a limit on how much they can get paid. This keeps them at a reasonable range.

    (4) Gives flexibility in how much Lebron, Rui, and Smart get paid, unlike the other option where Smart would have to take the MLE. Smart might not even be worth the full Room Exception.

The benefits of operating over the cap are:

    (1) Maximizes flexibility in terms of paying Lebron and Rui more money if they drive a hard bargain.

The benefits of operating under the cap outweigh operating over the cap by 4 to 1.

Jrue Holiday was huge. You just can’t get rid of that.

Lakers fans marinate on this. Two teams win a championship. Two owners get cheap.

    Jeanie Buss and Boston ownership.

Lakers don’t bring back Alex Caruso close their championship window and don’t win championship.

C Bags don’t bring Jrue Holiday back close their championship window don’t win the championship.

All because they didn’t want to pay a tax and were cheap. There you have it. Both players were instrumental in their teams defense.

Jrue Holiday had a rejuvenated season with Portland when Boston thought he was done.

    Thier you have it.

I graduated from San Diego State. Great time. Seau's restaurant was one of the all time great restaurants. I'll post a pic when I have a chance of friends of mine, a server I knew and Junior Seau taking a pic together. Junior was helping out that day guiding people to their tables. It was right after the Michael Vick trade that eventually got them Ladanian Tomlinson and Drew Brees.

San Diego hasn't been the same without Junior and Tony. The sky isn't as bright when I travel on the 8. It would be different if they were still here.

I moved to San Diego after Chet passed. I only knew Rome, Steve and Bill. Then Hacksaw and Coach Kentera.

Wow well said that was my restaurant me and my mom. I met Junior there multiple times. Ladanian Tomlinson and Rodney Harrison. Yancey Thigpen. That was the place to be for Super Bowl 1997. Was a wonderful restaurant. San Diego that Super Bowl met some kid named Peyton Manning and Desmond Howard. Still got a picture with them. Such a great time.

The Red Trolleys. So good. Man. The memories.
