Why would Minnesota let Ayo walk? The word around Minnesota, was they were looking for a dynamic backcourt partner, for Edwards to play with. It looks like they've found that guy. The NBA is a cold business sometimes, I expect they'll be looking to dump DiVincenzo's expiring contract off on somebody. Preferably some place with the capspace to take him without sending salary back, but that will take some draft capital.

 

Denver might look for a similar dump off for Cam Johnson, in order to keep Watson. Should we consider that?

 

yeah, jokic is great, but it's a bit wild how much immunity to criticism that one ring bought him. if that's luka, it's the only thing you hear about for the next five years. instead here, it will be about aaron gordon being out or something. hogwash. the other team was down two starters (on a team with like, 6 total players) AND their superstar, who's a top-10 nba player.

i do think it shows just how delicate that balance is, though. the nuggets had to painstakingly build a team that covered jokic and murray's weaknesses, and just one support player being out really screws everything up.

going forward, i'm very curious as to what denver does. i don't think they can keep johnson and watson. they're basically over the second apron if watson (and jones) walk into air. they can cut valanciunas, but that only buys 10 million, which i think would put them about 7 under the 2nd apron (factoring in empty roster charges?). they just played jones 35 minutes as a starter in a playoff game, and while some people would say that's an indication of how dire the straits were, i'd say that the vet mins that would replace him like thj and bruce brown played that many minutes combined in the same game.

not sure how they improve the roster, and just staying afloat will be difficult. don't think they can keep both johnson and watson. they can get a pick or a prospect for either one, but that's about it.

 

I never said they would. I’m not sure but in English I thought if you say bringing in “a” Dosunmu and Watson, means their type of player not necessarily them.

Minnesota is at 190m and is not going above the second apron so they’re going to have to make some moves to bring him back. I imagine Ayo wants 25m per?

 

we should, but they will send him to chicago, imo. bulls have a ton of space and could use johnson. and denver doesn't want to see johnson in a lakers uniform, imo (imagine if rui could defend on the perimeter and shoot on the move).
