Sounds like a name drop. I like Seraphin, but he's not exactly a classic "Center" like Mitch said we still need. I know there's no rush, but I don't understand why we still have Ryan Kelly and Robert Sacre and we don't have a backup PG and Upshaw on a signed contract.
I agree, I just am impatient and I want to start the season tomorrow so I expect our roster to be complete by tonight!
Going after another big makes absolutely no sense. Especially an end of the bench guy like Seraphin. Maybe as a 3rd string C if Sacre/Kelly are finally being traded? But he's definitely more of a PF. Do they not expect Randle to play much this season? Could he be on the move? Or maybe they really want to see what he can do at SF. Based on the past and what we saw in SL, I think Hibbert and Tarik should get the bulk of the frontcourt minutes if our objective is making the playoffs. It'll be interesting to see how they balance trying to win games while also trying to develop the young guys.
Maybe we're not signing Upshaw after all? Maybe they view Black as F/C? Maybe Sacre and Kelly are gone and we need another body at the 4/5? I don't know I'm just throwing out reasons now.
Sounds about right. The Lakers are still trying to finish the product. I wonder what they're looking at? Who are they looking to trade?
When someone reads the word "Clippers" their brain usually says: "does not compute. Did you mean Lakers?"
They probably want another veteran to fill average out the youth we have on this team. I mean, a veteran lineup of: Lou Kobe X Bass Hibbert isn't all that much off. Another veteran winger would be just about right. Dorel Wright, Chris Copeland, JR Smith (I threw up in my mouth a little), are still available. Or maybe we find one via trade. Mitch keeping options open. Also keeping in mind, the rookie trade date coming up.
We're about 10-12 days from being able to trade away our rookies. Man that'd be cold to trade those kids already. But it might need to happen if we're going to clear room on our roster... Who would you guys rather see moved? Nance Jr. or Anthony Brown? I'd rather we do something like: Step 1- Lakers in: Chalmers Philly in: A. Brown/Kelly/Sacre Miami in: 2nd Rounder Step 2- Sign Upshaw Step 3- Sign Dorell Wright Russell/Chalmers Clarkson/Williams/Brown Bryant/Young/Wright Randle/Bass/Nance Jr. Hibbert/Black/Upshaw
Tough call on either one... Nancey gives that effort that is hard to quantify. An athletic Rambis. Brown is developing but given how he could get off offensively and not allergic to playing defense shows promise. Get rid of Kelly, Sacre and Brown somehow then keep the aforementioned two.
Nance, Brown are expendable if they nets us a good profit. A solid veteran wing ideally. Kelly and Sacre can be had for 2nd rounders.
Yes... We have players at the 2 spot with 24, Clarkson and Young. I'm not saying he will be but Anthony Brown reminds me a bit of Sean Elliot.
Sean Elliot eh? I was thinking more along the lines of James Jones. Elliot is a lofty, lofty goal for a 2nd Rounder. Elliot was a 2 time All-star! Dude was legit!
Just the way Brown moves...same body type. Crazy thought I know. Dorrell Wright was what I thought of before but he is so one dimensional. Rasual Butler is comparable. I was pegging Brown to be a spot up shooter but he looks to be capable of more. Thank goodness he's no Brian Cook.
Yeah my initial thought was James Jones: high release point on the shot and similar body type. Anthony has a little sneaky athleticism though. If he's a hard worker like Russell/Randle/Clarkson I think he can develop into a real NBA player. We've had rough luck though with our 2nd round Fs lately. Saw Brian at the last Laker game of the year last season. Dude doesn't age! Looks pretty much the same as when he played for us. I liked Cookie, but he wasn't very good.
Cook was a good guy...played no D and was a below average rebounder at his size. Drew loads of charges though, was not afraid of taking the big shot and 24 liked him. Likes to hit opponents too... Chalmers would be a good pick-up as a back-up point but I am not sure if he would be warm to the idea. I don't think the point will be as crucial as 24 will direct things out there and is more than willing to teach albeit grumpily [grin]. Of course, the proviso is that he can hang for more games than expected given his physical state. Clarkson and Randle aren't afraid to take up the slack as sophs. There will also vet leadership with Bass, Young and to some degree, Hibbert. The Ridnour idea was floated about. He'd be OK...knows that he is a but a back up late in his career and is intelligent enough to keep the game from getting out of hand on the floor should Russell or Clarkson rest. To be honest, the latter would be best served keeping time at the point as well. Clarkson's has had experience there.
