man, those knees are a bummer. though i suppose there's no way a guy like him is availablein round 2 without that.
Just not meant to be this rookie season. Knee wasn't right. Played a handful of minutes and went out again. Played again tonight and got his face caved in by the OKC bruisers. South Bay, he can play infinite minutes without any issues. NBA level, he's hurt immediately. JJ at least showed tonight that he trusts him more than Vando. I think for JJ it's more about health and rhythm. If he's healthy entering the summer, I think he'll have a path to a role next season.
He is already a better offensive player than Vando, and arguably LaRavia. I like that this kid has a very high motor, and is decisive.
He has potential to be a solid 3 and d role player. He's athletic, has great defensive instincts, he can finish The main things affecting him are health and JJ not playing young players. Hopefully we can develop him instead of us being a farm system for the rest of the league.
Not sure about the potential to be a solid 3 and D player since the 3 part of his game is pretty nonexistenet. He's more of a slash and D player. Yes, you can get better at your 3 ball. But he seems seasons away (not just a summer) from that being adequate.
Yeah, I think people need to really temper their expectations with Adou. The absolute soonest I could see him being a rotation player is the 2027-2028 season. He was a project as a draft prospect and then missed all of the pre-draft process, all of last summer and then all of training camp. Then he got hurt again. Max was drafted in almost exactly the same spot as Adou and he didn't become a regular contributor until halfway through his 3rd season. That's a pretty typical timeline for 2nd round picks. A lot of them never become rotation players at all.
Perfectly put. It's crazy how so much people are into "deliver now or get lost". There's no patience nowadays. Growth takes time, it's fine for him to not be ready now or next year. He has the tools to become a legit contributor at some point. Let's help him grow to that level and wait for when he's ready. I believe it will pay off. Plus, we shouldn't rely on a 2nd round pick to be a key contributor right away. It's up to the GM to find solutions until he becomes one Same with LaRavia. 1st year here, still a young guy that played in Sac and Memphis, completely different contexts. He's always available, plays hard, shown good role player skills (defense, grit, some IQ, good handle, good stroke, does the dirty work, an all-around guy that does a bit of everything), he had a few big nights and should be a quasi fan favorite as a cheap guy in the roster that can play now and develop to become even better... but he gets hate for being in a shooting slump and not triple-doubling every game. It's crazy. Only thing it gives me peace on this is that basketball people see it correctly, but it's a shame they have to live through this hate and unwarranted criticism and expectations from casuals. They are the loudest in social media and even media in general. I'm sure it impacts their growth and confidence.
I think under a system in which they actually care about developing their players, he would be ready game one next season for a bench role. We have literally been one of the worst at development due to Jeanie’s myopic, outdated belief that we can still just buy our “stars” since role players aren’t that important and “everyone wants to play for the Lakers. At least Jimbo had a pet project in Bynum that worked out for a very short two seasons. Maybe the new regime will learn after wasting the next two years not developing young talent.
Adou’s been injured for the majority of the year, that’s not on the staff to develop him. It’s just what it is. His rookie season will be effectively next year where he gets spot minutes and the year after he might be a rotation player. He’s a year behind because his knees are paper mache.
