I don’t think this is a good idea… Long term health should be priority

Can’t be healed quickly, just rest up and return next season.

There are two things to do in this instance; do therapies that shorten the healing time or break in case of emergency scenarios where they play through an injury (think Gordon last year or Harden for the nets).

The first instance is treating the injury to recover quicker so think a 3 week healing time instead of 6. With a soft tissue injury, you're really treating 3 seperate things to get back, in this case thats:
    1. The tear itself. The body needs a mix of white & red blood cells, immune cells and stem cells in the area to heal and rebuild the damage. There are new age treatments that can take your blood, spin it and re-inject these cells locally to the area. It's kind of super charging the bodies ability to heal itself. This treatment is more cutting edge than what I'm familiar with and I can't speak to the efficacy, but the results seem excellent from what I've read.
    2. The inflammation - ie: swelling & bruising. The body swells in the area to immobilise it, clot the tear and clear away dead cells. These days they can target inflammation via shots/pills and actually drain the inflammation themselves via minor operations. When you team this with point 1, you can speed up (sometimes by double or triple the speed) of the inflammation phase and the healing phase by being active and not passive via these treatments.
    3. The body going into lockdown/shock from the injury; usually a mix of muscle spasms and nerve referral pain across the area that tells you to stop and basically immobilises you so you don't do more damage. There are treatments that release these nervous system responses like dry needling, that also promote blood travel to the area locally. Once you release the shock of the area, you can do rehabilitation quicker and without fear of injuries to other areas as much too. The quicker you can get back to free movement means you don't lose as much conditioning and recovery is significantly quicker.
So assuming he does this, I'm all for it. They'll image his hamstring weekly and see how fast he is progressing and maybe he is back in 3 weeks or so. This can be done to great effect and there is only a slightly higher chance of relapse than waiting the 6 weeks.

If they're looking at the Aaron Gordon or James Harden option, that's basically the opposite. They let you heal as much as possible in the time you have, then do a mix of mobilisation and pain relief before they roll the dice and hope for the best. It's the Hail Mary option and only to be used when you need a half or 1 game out of your player. KD tore his achilles because of it as an example. I'm totally against that. It's how you risk careers, you do it when you're going into game 7 of the finals not round 1.

By the way, a lot of these blood technologies are legal in pro sports but aren't available in the US due to religious interference (not judging).

That's why he'd go to either Europe or Aus/Pacific. They can halve the healing time.

Some info on what he may do. Still don’t see a point, we have little chance with a fully healthy Luka, we have no chance with a hobbled one

Yeah, I've had various of these therapies. Less of the stem cells, but more of the PRP, platelet therapies and inuspharesis treatments for inflammation.

I didn't mention the peptides, but they could effectively clear up his hamstring in a fortnight. They're just illegal in professional sports.

I agree. Just shut him down. Sometimes have to protect a great player from themselves.

I am not opposed to him getting that treatment. I don't think it's going to matter for this year.

But, what I want to know is how is he NOT higher in the MVP standings? We get blown out by a team that is tanking without him and AR. Yet, OKC, SA, and Denver all have winning records without their "MVP". I call serious media bias.

Welcome to the Lakers, where dominant best players in the NBA get token MVPs only if their teams have the best record, and sometimes it’s not even enough

Well the Watson kid folks are lusting after, had a grade 2 hamstring sprain, missed 46 days and came back, and lasted 5 games and now he's back out. Hamstring injuries are tricky.
