Lakers will have at least 48 millions if LeBron is not going sign for another 50 + millions Keith Smith @KeithSmithNBA Moves made at the NBA trade deadline vaporized a lot of 2026 potential cap space. Here are the teams I now project to have cap space this offseason: 1. Lakers: $48.2M 2. Nets: $45.7M 3. Bulls: $34.6 M A more reasonable projection may be $54 million in cap room. However, the Lakers may look to deal their first-round pick, Dalton Knecht, Bronny James (to whatever team his father joins), and possibly Jarred Vanderbilt to maximize flexibility
No offense taken, I’m not an expert by any means. From what I can tell: Luka: 49.8m Reaves: 26.5m CAPHOLD (this could be 20.9m instead but Pincus quoted the larger number) Vando: 12.4m Ayton: 8.1m PLAYER OPTION Jake: 6m Smart: 5.4m PLAYER OPTION Hayes: 4.9m CAPHOLD Knecht 4.2m Kobe Bufkin: 2.5m TEAM OPTION Bronny: 2.3m Adou: 2.1m 1x Incomplete Roster Charge: 1.4m ---- Total: 125.6m Other Cap Holds: Kennard: 13.2m CAPHOLD Rui: 27.4m CAPHOLD The cap is set at 166m - so we'd have about 40m incap space assuming we let Rui & Kennard walk fornothing - if we resign either that number drops. I suppose we don’t need to include Hayes, Bronny (partial guarantee ) Bufkin, Ayton or Smart into our calculations and that would boost that number up. But I assume we’ll keep a big junk of those guys and try to build around the edges.
i think bronny will be cut and join dad in cleveland. i forgot to keep bufkin in my analysis above. i hope we do, though recently, we've dropped such players (e.g., goodwin) in pursuit of other opportunities. your hayes hold is smaller than mine (and reaves hold larger), but i'm beginning to wonder if my sources on those things are just wrong.
I'm 50/50 on keeping Kennard. He's a dead-eye shooter, but every team that has ever had him has wanted him to shoot more than he does. He's just not a volume shooter, in part because he's not a movement shooter. He's a spot-up shooter that can drive a closeout well. I'd be happy to have him, but if that money could help us get a better two-way player I'd be okay with letting him walk. I'm pretty confident Hayes isn't going anywhere, he's playing for the f***ing Slovenian national team lol. He knows its not getting better for him than playing with Luka. Bufkin I don't care about.
They should bring in Nick Richards.Hayes and him would be ideal for this team.FA who won’t cost a lot.
Not a bad idea, really. He does not have a sophisticated offensive game, but with Luka distributing... that's not even necessary. He can can catch and dunk it just fine, and he's a defensively oriented, physically strong center. It might work.
And Jackson himself another summer, along with FIBA ball, building on what he did in the weight room this past summer. Such a huge, positive change in how he plays this year.
I’m confident his fit is right. As you stated a stronger better rebounder than Hayes but has the athleticism for a Luka lob.
He's unrestricted this summer, coming off final year of 3 years at 5M. Why would he not want to be a Laker if we up that for him some for another 3 years? 28 years old. 245lbs, 6'11"-7' with reported 7'2"-7'4" wing span.
I doubt we are picking up Bufkin's option. That option was likely there to protect us incase he absolutely blew up. Probably will release the Hayes caphold as well. I believe Ayton will pick up his option. What team is going to pay him more than 8 million when he basically couldn't make it work with two of the greatest playmakers in the history of the sport? I think Smart opts out. So those three things give us an extra 10-11. But thanks for breaking down your reasoning.
I don't think I do that. Again, have to see how the season and PO's playout, IMO. However, we can't rule out the season when determining his salary. He's had a great season for the most part and surpassed expectations. If anything, the games earlier in the season when LBJ and/or Luka, he carried us. That is pivotal now that the standings are so close. Give credit where credit is due. That said, his play as of recent hasn't been great, but it's a long season (marathon), so we'll see. I'm of the position that anybody can be traded and you have to listen to offers on everybody to improve your basketball team, IMO. Guess we'll see where it goes...
murray's a big injury risk. if they wanted to trade us murray and murphy for a re-signed/maxed reaves, that would be something i'd consider, though.
