How many significant players are they going to get with that cap space? One? How many significant players could they get by trading AR? Probably 2 IMO.This team needs multiple players to fix this mess
If we flame out in the playoffs (which we will), we need to take a serious look at the organisation top to bottom. The only safe person is Luka.
I don’t know what you consider significant players but you can definitely get a couple of impactful players with 50 plus million.
We don't have 50m in cap space if Lebron leaves. I've made posts about it before - it's roughly 40m in cap space.
Watson,Kessler or Eason are significant and they are only going to get one of those guys with 40-45 mil in cap space and that’s only if their current team doesn’t match.Obviously not an ideal situation
Like @Cookie said, AR is not the problem. Luka and AR are our strength. The role player are our problem. We need defense, athletism, and perimeter shooting. Trading away AR will introduce more problems --- scoring, secondary ball-handling, and playmaking. We have $40M in cap space, draft capital and limited players that may be useful to other teams. That should be enough to address most of our problems this summer. If it were up to me, I'd replace our entire front office before trading AR. Their poor decision-making (Caruso, Goodwin, etc), drafting (JHS and Knecht), and inability to sign good role players, is inexcusable.
Those players aren't going to demand $40M+. We will have cap space, draft picks and a couple of tradeable players to fill out the roster.
Forgetting or ignoring one important detail.you will have to out bid their current team to sign them.
ROFL. The s*** in here is just so funny. I don't think they know the cap. They just see the big "number" and think it's going to be so easy with a lack of assets, some draft picks, players most teams don't want (unless we're attaching an asset), and think it's going to fix this summer. Then, to top it off, everybody saying, "Austin isn't the problem," when nobody every said he is, but he is not the solution. S&T his a** and we'll need an intervention on this site.
wiggins (i could see him opting out and taking a longer deal at lower money) and grimes? but yes, it's not super realistic to get two FAs. but we could potentially sign one and trade for another using the remainder of space and picks.
Maybe trying to absorb a contract like Wiggins or a Divincenzo would be an easier road.I understand that Watson would be preferred by most of us but it’s a slippery slope with RFA.
i think RFA is the last resort after attempting to get a trade done first. and that's fine, as RFA is always the last thing that happens in FA because all the deals are basically done before FA officially opens (which is when RFA deals can be signed). if we're fully holding the bag after the first round of action, we may just make a stupid high offer on some RFAs that decline over time. i'd make calls to agents of RFAs letting them know about this, too, so they don't agree to a contract before our space has been spoken for, as they could stand to make a bunch more if they wait.
Free Agent A= $20 million per Free Agent B(or trade for player B)= $20 million per Last time I checked, that equates to $40 million It’s not my job to find and sign them- it’s Rob’s. You should be able to sign one and at least trade for the other. As for Austin, you are just dead wrong. Did the guy run over your dog? Every single GM in the NBA would love to have him on their team. Your troll card shows every single time you complain about the kid.
The players we're aiming for are going to over $20 million - they're averaging $30 million plus per season. It just isn't realistic. It's going to take 2-3 transaction windows to get this team built correctly around Luka. As for Austin, he's isn't a number 2, and if the Lakers believed that, they wouldn't be pursuing Giannis this summer; they'd be all in on build the best team around Luka & Austin and devoting every resource around them, IMO. Giannis wouldn't even be a thought, IMO. But you guys keep believing that - he'll likely get paid, but the Lakers are going to have to keep looking for a Luka co-star because Austin simply isn't it. You'll figure that out at some point, though.
