I’ve watched the fake behind the back pass layup like 10 times trying to figure out how AR stealth nut punched his defender on the perimeter. This guy can do it all.

djj crowded him (got his leg all the way around him) and austin tried to move his leg to bump him off and inadvertently got him in the jewels. this is the price of that kind of crowding, though.

anyway, as weezy's first link shows, reaves can play on or off ball, which is excellent. probably the only thing he can't do is like, sprint off a pin-down and drill a three (and i'm not even sure he can't, i just can't recall seeing it).

i think he's pretty clearly a 25ppg type scorer for the foreseeable future.

This seems pretty obvious to me yet there's so many who say he's a bad fit with Luka because HE needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Not to mention Luka and LeBron both are more than happy enough with the times they let AR initiate up top.

yeah, and tbh, all three fit just fine offensively, as both lebron and reaves can and will play off ball (lebron grumbles but can do it well). and i've actually seen luka off the ball way more in la than he was in dallas, tbh. maybe i'm just attending to it more, but i think he set a couple ball screens up high last night, which was pretty uncommon in dallas.

anyway, the "fit" issue with reaves/luka is just that your top two players/earners aren't strong defenders. but again, neither is as bad as people suggest, and finding three guys who will defend in order to have these two triple or quadruple their salaries shouldn't be that hard over time.

    Good pull

Pistol Pete had some slick moves

Too bad they didn't translate to the NBA

Saw this on LG > X and asked the question on Google. At first I legit did not see "career" in the statement, thought it was just this season. This seems true though. This is f****** nuts! Ship his a** out so we can get a better POA defender and "fit" next to Luka, who will NEVER have times where he will be on the bench in games or ever be injured again. Guys like AR are easy pick ups at 20M a year.

Is this statement true? Austin Reaves has the highest career true shooting % in history in NBA for a guard?

    Excerpt:

Career True Shooting % Comparison (Guards)

    Player Career TS% Status
    Austin Reaves
    63.2% Active (Lakers)
    Stephen Curry
    62.6% Active (Warriors)
    Kyle Korver
    61.7% Retired
    Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
    61.4% Active (Thunder)
    Reggie Miller
    61.4% Retired

    Sources: StatMuse, Basketball-Reference.
Reaves also recently became the first player in NBA history to record at least 50 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists while shooting over 80% true shooting in a single game.

    WTF. Really? Goddamn.

Although Shai's presence (and knowing AR) tells me that FTs are a heavy heavy contributor to that, so I wonder if that has to be adjusted for pace/amount of FT/etc.

Having higher pace and tighter whistle contributes to more FTs in a game, thus making the FTs more impactful (don't have the patience to analyze min/max impact).

At the time we were all expecting more from him

    He was amazing in college

Not saying he wasn't a good player

Poor choice of words on my behalf maybe

AR is really effective % wise scoring at the rim on drives too. I wonder if anyone else in the league is ahead of him there “this year”? I remember trying AI a month ago and it was like totally unaware of AR even being in that category. Did a quickie again just now and it did say he was like 3rd in attempts averaged per game, but zip on the general question of % of success.
